Steam version works perfect with every mod, i never had any issues with it, i have some five different sh3 installs .
After you install a supermod and patch the executable you dont need Steam open to run the game .

I'm the same way. With DCS, everyone is always telling me I should be playing multiplayer. Have no interest in that, would rather just do my own thing.

Looking forward to getting back into the Atlantic.

Thank you; time to roll back the years and give SHIII another go!

After a little work I got SHIII installed. From the disc. At first it wouldn't install, and I couldn't figure out why I was having so much trouble when It worked fine the last time. Then I realized that the "gift" computer I had it on was running Windows 8. Here I was telling everybody it worked fine for me on Windows 10, and the reality was that I've never tried to install it on Win10.

I ended up installing to the much-hated X86 folder on the C Drive. That worked fine, and then I moved the whole thing to the folder I store all my games on. So far, so good.

I do hope you have the later version disk that has no StarForce.

Sorry for the huge delay, but I've had other games also grabbing my interest - Wings Over Flanders Fields and especially, believe it or not, Train Simulator. I'm at a point no where SH3 is begging me to research mods again, and I'm starting to warm up.

Well, I spent a lot of time working on other games with problems. Then I got back to SH3 and Commander kept telling me that I already have SH3 running and I can't load Commander. After stripping out SH3 once again everything seems to be running alright.

Loading Screens mod is installed. I like the band playing a different song every time I enter port.

You too??? WOFF is AWESOME! I've flown it quite a bit, although not recently. Also in my absence, I've taken up model railroading. AT&SF between 1936-1946. I've got the big train sim, (Trainz 2019) but haven't messed with it much at all.

Am coming back up to speed here myself. (but try not to worry.... although my post count is 6,666 currently.)

Sorry, didn't mean to derail anything. I just thought the coincidence was remarkable.

I became upset with WOFF because one player/modder developed the ring of forts that surrounded Verdun. I couldn't get them to show up in the game, and I kept badgering the chief modders until I embarrassed myself. When I apologized they all said that they should be thanking me because if not for me they never would have been aware of the problem. Now it looks like the head designers are redoing that part of the game so the forts all show up automatically...just for me!

As for trains, I've become hooked on Dovetail's Train Simulator. I love driving the real engines along the real routes, especially some of the oddball little routes like the Corris Railway with its miniature engines. One of my favorites is the Welshman/Scotsman who goes by 'SmokeBox' and his 1870s engines that you can drive using the techniques they really used.

Oh, and you didn't derail anything at all. It's my thread.

The Wilhelmshaven, St. Nazaire etc mod is installed, as is the 4-Gig patch, and all seems to be working okay so far.
