Default AOP2 Puzzel

These two pics are the beginning of a AOP2 game interface.
In these two pics you will have to look very hard but there is a difference between the two. ( forget the white waterline at the ships hulls as that's not what I'm referring to because there is a slight change in the two pics. )

Hint: It has something to do with fish.

This interface also changes to evening with the ships lights aglow, rain, sunny daylight. Its something different and nice to look at before a game.

YOU WIN the cigar.

Now you see that wasn't so bad. You'd be surprised how many people can not see a small difference like that.

I was kind of intrigued each time I start to play AOP2 that the sea gull is always moving or snoozing. Also at every start there is different background like very stormy weather with or without lightning and thunder, a nice balmy day, a calm evening with the ship running light aglow. Just something more that the developers paid attention too in stead of the same old drab way of starting a game. To me it does make a difference.

Yep your right it does look like its going to Davey Jones.

But according to the rigging that I see and that it is a Coast Guard vessel then I'd say it is ( was ) a Sloop.

Here's one coming at you.

Heres the sloop rigging in tack something like the sinking one, only this ones afloat.

What about it Captain von Keldunk?

YOU WIN the cigar

Hello
You are right it is a Sloop.
I am playing Peter Blood quest line, and sailing my frigate Cinco Liagas.
Good ship for smugglin, coast guard ships are no problem.
but cost of using Cinco Liagas is 30.000- 50.000 per month.
After this incident with coast guard in Curacao I sailed to Willemstad and took a full load of contraband to What? destination, that is What kind of cargo and where. Hint, I have a dutch privateer license.

I'm still with you Capt., I've not played the game for a couple nights but intend to tonight.

Off the top of my head I can not remember the store menu for "Willemstad" so I do not know what was outlawed ( these store contraband items will change over time ).

Offhand you probably bought Sandalwood and went to "Fort Orange" ??

I just happen to be at "Willemstad" in Dec 1666 ( or I was when I saved and quit couple nights ago ).

Maybe not but this is what I'm referring to:

P.S. I still have not been able to play the game since a couple days ago and will not till maybe tomorrow. Family comes first.

I still think your destination was "Fort Orange" as it is a Dutch port and you have a Dutch trader license and you purchased in the Dutch port of
"Willemstad" Also it is closer than "Saint Martin".

But I will check into it.

Later.

Smuggling route

Hello I did not have a "Dutch trader license" but Dutch Privateer license as Peter Blood is english,
and England and Holland are at war. I got my license from pirate port diplomat.
hint
this is edited post of Zalioth in pirates ahoy.
Economy:
* Smuggling is all about routes and amounts... the higher the amount the more profitable is the risk... A good route is Curaçao (buy XXXXX) and XXXX (buy XXXX, although personally i don't even bother with this one...).
On Curaçao, get officers and buy as many bulky ships as you can, empty them of cannons, put minimum crew and some food and medicines, then load them all till the top of the mast with your goods. Get the deal done, then before going back to the sea, get back your sailors, food and medicines, get rid of the skippers in them and leave them to sink... Repeat.

In this route Curaçao - XXXXX (XXXXXX) I make around a few millions each time, because I move around a few thousands of XXXXX... (at xxxx trade, you buy it for xxx or so, and you sell it to the smugglers for xxx more or less ) The price of sinking ships is totally justified (each of these carriers costs around 50k, nothing compared to what you are going to make...). It's basic to have a fast ship to run away, because the government won't allow such huge operations plus, your reputation goes to hell quite fast... but, you wouldn't be smuggling if you were going to be a good boy right?
Run this route and you will be a millionare
I changed store buy/sell margin of 100& to 60% in my Bounty merchant mod V2 now you can play role of a honest captain, buy in one island and sell to another. with 100% margin it was simply impossibe. I have found a good route for honest trading starting from Curacao and using same trade item as for smuggling but to different island where it is legal to sell it to store. I play the role of a Dutch merchant
I have a good return cargo too. Paprika.

OK lets see if I get this straight or not.
First you start off at Willemstad buying a cargo that is counter band at Marigot ( St.Martin ), sell this via smugglers on Saint martin ( probably weapons as there made of wood or parts of and they are not counter band at Willemstad but are at Marigot ). Buy maybe Paprika at Marigot and sell in Willemstad, then start all over??

NOTE: I've only shown with highlighted lines of articles I think you have bought/sold as the maps are to large to show on these pages.

I don't know what year you are in, but I do know that your character is Peter Blood an Englishman.

My character is Ian Stance as I just want to be a trader until I can get every thing built up. ( Oh I hoist the Jolly Roger once in a while. )
Am now at Feb. 1666 so I don't know if the stores carry the same counter bands or prices as when you are sailing the waters.

Here are the stores at Willemstad when you start and then Marigot, then the return run. ( unless you go some other place? )

You probably buy weapons which are counter band in Marigot? Problem here is the store is sold out of weapons, Oh boy.

Then we see the weapons are banded here at Marigot so you can talk to the smuggler at the tavern ( as you have a Privateer license ) and probably get a good price.

Now for the trip back to Willemstad. Going by the other guys article you'll probably buy Paprika ( NOT much profit here so I hope the weapons really paid off ).

Jeez there isn't much profit here, but like I said you probably make a killing in weapons.

OK if this is not your smuggling route then I must give up for there are literally hundreds of ways depending on the character and what his roll is.

Personally I'm about to hit a couple of Spanish gold ships if I can catch them en route.

And I hope I don't have to swim after the encounter for I've seen awfully large sharks swimming around my ships. :rotfl:
