Really appreciate the effort you put into your work. I tried to get something going like this for a hobby but found myself constantly changing my mind of what to do. Found myself trying railroad simulators instead. Just curious if you ever gave them a try? The latest one I had a great time with is the Train Simulator 2016 - Clear Creek Narrow Gauge route.

Thanks. Yes I have tried Train Simulator and it was interesting but I like creating the scenery as much as I like running the trains. I've also ripped everything out and started over on various sections of the layout. That's part of the fun as well.

I already know the answer, but do you find that you spend more time on your model railroading hobby in the winter than you do in the summer?

I've enjoyed many Christmas times with Lionel size layouts around the tree and even taking up the whole living room, but like the Christmas tree itself everything has to be put away sooner or later.

What do you call the O scale Lionel size train sets when they only have two rails?

I think they're just simply called "O Scale." Actually, I think O Scale is larger than Lionel.

Well my layout is in my garage attic so it gets too hot in the dead of summer and costs an arm and a leg to heat in the winter so I find that most of my MRR time is in the spring and fall.

This does a good job of explaining the differences and similarities between O gauge (Lionel) and O scale.

I hear ya about having to break down the layout. That's why I picked the garage attic. Not even the cat goes up there. I can start projects and leave them laid out until I am ready to continue which can be weeks.

As a former model railroader myself, I know how much work went into your railroad, and believe me it shows. Congratulations on a job well done.

And I also know that no model railroad is ever truly completed.
