Default Damaged batteries but not showing as damaged?

Hello fellow sailors
Long time no see... Back at SH again.. now running SH4 with FotRSU latest version. Loving it so far..

So I'm out on my first mission, and I was messing around near Guam, when I was attacked by a lone Destroyer out of port.. Probably pushed my luck a bit.. and took some damage from depth charges. He destroyed my Attack scope and damaged a bunch of other items (not the batteries)..
After a VERY LONG cat and mouse game I was finally able to evade the destroyer, head out into open waters, and escape him.. by this time my batteries were at about 28%.
I surfaced, sent a repair crew to fix everything they could, and continued to head east..
They were able to fix everything except for the attack scope which was destroyed.. I was fine with this as I had plenty of gas and torpedoes.. however, I noticed that my batteries would not charge above 62%, no matter what I tried.. I verified that they were not damaged.. I had no hull damage.. and all of my stuff (except for the attack scope) was fixed... I tried whatever things I could, but no matter what I did, my batteries would not go above 62%..

I was given an optional recon mission at Wake Island.. seems risky.. saved the game and quit for now.. I know that I will need to sneak in under water. but with only 62% batteries and a destroyed attack scope, I'm not sure if I'm going to risk it yet..

Anyway, have any of you ever had this issue with the batteries not fully recharging? This has all happened AFTER I suffered other damage, so I'm wondering if the batteries took damage and it just doesn't show up in the status or damage area.

In TMO, I've taken damage to the batteries that would charge to 99%, but no further, even after repairs showed no damage to them.

I had to manually switch off the battery charge, or else fuel usage was quite dismal.

Thanks razark. I'll probably take my chances and see if I can get some recon photos, as long as I don't get spotted by an enemy destroyer I should be fine. If they see, me, I'll be screwed and run out of battery power

Jeff,

once your batteries take damage, you cannot fully repair them (back to 100%) until you return to your home base and end your patrol. there was a discussion on one of the forums here not long ago where this topic was discussed at length. you might want to search for it.

be advised that, under certain circumstances, damaged and repaired torpedo tubes will also not be usable until you return to your home port, even though they appear to be fully repaired. again, there was a recent discussion on this topic in one of the forums.

good luck!

Thanks KM.. the only thing is I never saw the batteries ever take damage, or at least I didn't see it. The depth charge took out my attack scope and damaged my other scope, (which I repaired), and I think some other radar thing.. I never saw the batteries showing damage on the damage page.

I suppose it's possible that they were damaged and I never saw it, but anyway, I'll take my chances today with a limited underwater approach to capture pictures and hopefully not get caught where I would have to stay under for a long time.. In that case I'll be in trouble
