Icon9 Torpedos doing what looks like no damage with GWX

I bought the game a bit ago, installed GWX and started the navy academy
Did the first few missions normally, worked like a charm until i started the torpedo mission.

I have been doing this mission so much that i am consistently getting hits perfectly amidships with like 1-2 meters of depth under the ship with magnetic pistol, but no ship ever sinks. I start the mission and empty all 4 tubes into the first ship right in front of me, and it just doesn't care.
It seems to take damage since i knocked the propeller off, but it just won't sink no matter what i do.

I was able to sink ships with deckguns in the earlier mission just fine.

I had ahnenerbe's wide gui installed but uninstalled it thinking it might be the problem, nothing changed.

If it is the passenger cargo then it is notoriously hard to sink with torpedoes. I wouldn't waste torpedoes on it. Not much tonnage anyway.

Any other mods perhaps that could make a difference?

I have no other mods installed, at least that is what jsgme is telling me.
and yeah, i emptied every torp i had on the tramp steamer that starts in front of your uboat, and it sunk after a LOONG while - like it took around a day to sink.

I think the navy academy just chose really stupidly solid ships for the tutorial.
Do i get anything for finishing the tutorial or can i just start with the career?
Since im pretty good at hitting by now.

Tramp Steamers do sink in my experience. The P/C has a cargo of ping-pong balls or something. Maybe you set the torpedoes too low and they did less damage effect than you could otherwise. Impact location maters for impact pistols. Maybe you just got unlucky and made a minimal dent.

I also had an odd experience with GWX on my first campaign shakedown mission. I was tasked with navigating through the bay and sinking two target ships. I fired four torps (two magnetic and two impact) into the first target (all hits) with little or no damage. The second sank with two hits.

I quit that game and am sticking to LSH3 and CCoM as my mods of choice.

There are numerous reasons completely unrelated to GWX that could be causing your torpedo failures.
It is easily possible to sink ships of any kind in GWX.
