Default Colleagues

The last couple of days I have had a problem with some game SAVEs not loading. I reach the screen where it says "Please Wait". There's a somewhat longer wait than usual, then the system returns to the WIndows desktop with no sign of SH4 anywhre. Doesn't happen enough to be a show stopper but irritating just the same. Any suggestions appreciated.

Best wishes,
Capt. J. Hazelwood.

IIRC the fix for this problem was to delete all old saved games which on my PC are found in the Documents/SH4/data/config/savegames folder. Each subfolder is a saved game as shown by its date.
Other Kaleuns will likely have more definitive information.

Looks like I need to clean house as well despite having no loading issues....

Cheers!

HI Hazel,

I'm a little late (perhaps) but does the above help you?

If I'm right you've been in the game and chose a single mission or patrol? Afterwards you'll got to a black screen telling you to wait on. Normally a few seconds (minutes) later the mission starts. If not does it mean that you have a problem with the mission/patrol to that effect that something in the MIS or TSR file is missing! If you don't have deep matter(ing) knowledge in mission building it is the best advice to forget this mission or patrol.

On the other hand you can try what is actual strictly banned:

Leave the SH-FullScreen with for example Win_key + D (back to desktop in Win10) or with a similiar possibility. In most cases behind the SH4 fullscreen a windows window will be shown in which the description from the SH4-game is to read what is missing and therefore preventing the start of the mission.

Another - more brute method - is to wait if the game gets the mission loaded? If it lasts too long, O.k., double klick short ESC or ENTER. If, for instance, only a picture in a mission which, exceptionally, is correctly and properly described, is missing, because it is not in the mission/patrol folder or it is wrong described in the TSR-file and the game couldn't find it, the game will go on and start the mission.
Hope I could help a little - much success and healthy return!

Jackdaw
