hmmm....I just got BOB II.... and I'm a bit disappointed. I put the first MOD on it ...but it just seems very very arcadish and bubbly if that makes sense. The gun firing...the getting hit by bullets/wounded sounds.

As a comparison I fired COD back up and it was much better for what I would call realism factor. Obviously the graphics in COD are not notch compared to BOB II, but it just feels right.

Quote from a review from SimHQ on IL-2:COD

"It's infuriating to think of flight-sim Michelangelo deciding to join forces with Homer Simpson to produce this odd and curious master-class of inconsistency."

So what can people tel me the differences are between Cliffs Over Dover and say IL2 1946 with HSFX?

Is COD getting to the point where it is great modded? What about performance requirements?

Im looking for information because this may be a new purchase soon, if I dont feel like Ill enjoy it, I may stick with 1946.

CloD is in a way the SHV of the IL2 series.
A lot is promised by the original dev team but little is actually delivered.
It was plagued by a horrible performance at the release which they somewhat fixed with some post-patching but eventually they even gave up on that and moved on to their next project with 777 studios ''Battle of Moscow'' and left CloD as for what it is. Something with potential which isn't beeing used untill now with the guys of ATAG that started to sink their teeth in it.

I'm really looking forward to these Candidate releases of their mod and see if they can bring CloD to what it should've been. So far it's looking very good and promising.

EDIT: I see it's just 10€/$ on Steam and now it's even 35% off with the Ubi sale till the 18th of March so if you ask me it can't hurt to get it.

Only if you want to play an arcade game.

The flying is more complex in CloD than 1946. The mod patch that is coming out from Team Fusion takes the game to another level again both graphically and with flight models.

When it first came out, the game was badly borked, particularly on lower end rigs. After the performance patch things improved a great deal and with the TF patch they will improve again. The key things limiting it after TF's patch will be the lack of a SP campaign, limited aircraft types, maps and timeframe.

The lack of aircraft is being worked on, however this will take a long time to get right due to the far more complex 3D modelling required as well as the more complex flight and damage models for each aircraft.

If you are looking for something more like flying a real WWII aircraft than War Thunder, then for the price CloD is not a bad deal.

To check on what Team Fusion are doing with the game check this thread over on ATAG: http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...ead.php?t=3656

Thank you to all at Team Fusion.
