Default Silent Hunter 5 has stopped working

Hello. I just bought this game on Uplay and I can't get it to launch.
When I click on Play it instantly displays that "stopped working" message. I tried launching the game from its folder, tried several compatibility options, tried disabling scaling on high DPI, tried running it as administrator, tried reinstalling both Uplay and SH5, tried deleting VCRedist x86.

I couldn't find any more solutions, so I don't really know what else can I do. I absolutely remember, that I played this game before on my PC just fine.

I have Windows 7.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately that didn't help either. I reinstalled Uplay with your instructions and I still get this error.

I think, that it's problem not with my Uplay, but with the game itself. Even when I'm launching it from folder with Uplay turned off it says "sh5 has stopped working". And it's happening quite instant, I don't even see any game screens or loading icons at all, just error message.

Yeah, that sounds more like some kind of problem with compatibility somewhere. If you're using mods there may be an issue there or it could be a problem with your hardware.

If you played the game fine before, its possible that a patch for a mod/SH5/Uplay launcher has mucked things up... I always had trouble whenever a new windows came out and i hadn't upgraded.

Troubleshooting is a real pain, hopefully it turns out to be something simple for you.

Ok, finally I've found a solution. I'll leave it here in case someone has the same problem.

It seems that problem was with .NET Framework. All I had to do is to add some parameters in registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramewor k]
Add -> DWORD (32-bit) -> name it OnlyUseLatestCLR -> edit -> type 1 instead of 0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ .NETFramework]
Add -> DWORD (32-bit) -> name it OnlyUseLatestCLR -> edit -> type 1 instead of 0

Thanks everyone for replies!

Nicely done. The crashlog was a big help but I see you already found a solution. That's some good troubleshooting right there
