Heads up , next flight will be next week.

gives me at least some time to revisit the missions after discovering some flaws with the AI not doing what I would've liked them to do. And ofcourse to make more of them in the meantime.

I'll edit the screenshot I took into this post. It was a victory and defeat moment, my kill going down in flames in the background and a 109 sitting on my tail.

Is there a performance comparison of the Typhoon 1b vs the 109 around anywhere? I just want to know what I do to avoid them, with the 190 I figure I might be able to out-turn it since she's a BnZ fighter, but the 109 could probably turn inside me and if I try to outclimb it I'm going to end up with a shredded tail section. Hitting the deck and trying to flee at top speed is not an option any more it seems.

Oh, and Crecy, I really recommend you change to something other than the Buffalo...perhaps a 109, although be sure to put your lights on so we don't shoot you down in the furball.

There's a version of IL-2 Compare that comes with HSFX. You could check that, though I'm not certain how much help it is.

To compare it's the BF109G4 I've been putting in these missions.
when it comes to TAS the Typhoon should be faster untill you reach the altitude of 5000m then the BF109G4 gets the upper hand, the ROC of the 109 is ofcourse better and other then that they're quite closely matched.

The Tempest Mk.V (stock) I use starts to lose the upper hand in TAS around 7000m I do have a slight advantage when it comes to turning but I already knew that, bit of combat flaps and stick back hard the Tempest is really forgiving in that unless you are blasting over a 600 km/h then you might lose a part of the aircraft

Here is a quote from a book I'm currently reading -

Quote:
A substantial number of American aircraft arrived in England as a result of Britain taking over orders that had been placed by the French and Belgian governments before the occupation of those countries. In some cases - the Brewster Buffalo comes to mind - the Allied cause would possibly have been better served had the aircraft been delivered, as originally intended, to the quays of Antewerp or Brest to fall into the hands of the enemy.

So true. I remember flying it against the Japs in a campaign we did ages ago...it did not usually end well...except of course, in the case of Kratos who used some imaginative tactics involving bridges:

(huh, what do you know, the video fixed itself since the last time I watched it...the end used to be chopped off).

I'll have a look at IL2compare, but yeah, you're right Schroeder, I have to factor in Olegs world physics into this too. Still, the armament of the 'phoon is lovely, sliced that poor 109 in two.

Remember that the AI has other ideas about a planes performance than a human flown aircraft.

I'm flying an offline Pacific campaign at the moment and I'm constantly confronted with Zeros that climb away from my F4U and outrun/catch me while I'm going on emergency power.
