That North Africa video isn't actually a real mod, one of the devs made it as an example of what was possible and posted it at simhq at the beginning of the year to answer some modders questions as I remember.
There is an official expansion though "Fall Blau" more vehicles etc, not sure on release date of this,

only Steel Fury mods I've found so far are at the Russian version of tanksim

Are we talking a modability open to the community, or things that can only be acchieved by the developers? Different environments, for example, like Africa?

If the community could engage with such far-leading stuff, then this would be a very huge and massive boost for the longevity of Steel Fury.

Agree!

Russia and the desert where the two most interesting tank-warfare theaters by far. If we could have both ... wow!

I hope that the game is open to modders, that would be icing the cake

It's certainly open to the community as some vehicles have already been modded by community modders for the Russian version, the developers themselves were actively encouraging modding at the simhq forum, even helping modders with "how to do " info so it's all looking good on that front.

developing new skins and models is one thing, developing new terrain themes and environments is something different. Is modding with regard to new battle areas (W-Europe, Africa, Asia) possible? Me personally for exmaple never was interested in collecting thousands of skins and models, but in getting new hunting grounds to play hide-and-seek in.
