I agree, both versions of WOTW were watchable but as you say it would be nice to see a version that sticks to the book more so now in the age of SFX.

Lest ir be forgotten, there is also "Independence Day" which is a sort of remake of WOTW, substituting a computer virus for an organic virus. I viewed it again not long ago and it still holds up well...

I just could not get to grips with that one, something about it.

Will be attending a showing of the new Hunger Games movie later. Might or might not be good. We'll see.

Two of our Public TV-channel has gone into classic movie-mode

They are showing classic War movies and classic Western Movies.

Have unfortunately missed some of them.

They say it's the bloodiestyet in the series.
Which is not much since how tame the last 3 were despite the plot.

Years ago I read the book. The second half of the third book was very much violent, but, the books were all-together much more violent than the films.

I think it's just because of the young target audience.

I'm honestly only going because I'm taking somebody to see it.

EDIT: @Betonov, Skype hasn't worked for over a month now. Seems it crashes on startup, so that's why i've been off so much.

Mockingjay P2 was solid. Speaking for the movie, it felt very long and kind of droned on towards the end but I wasn't expecting Oscar-Heavy material.

See it, but don't pay a lot to see it. Wait for DVD or digital release.

I find it hard to look at the Hunger Games series without seeing Battle Royale, which it seems to have taken most of its plot from.

Anyway, a film came onto my radar this afternoon, having approached rather stealthily. 'Bridge of Spies', by Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks and set around the Francis Gary Powers incident and the exchange of Powers for Colonel Vilyam Fisher on Glienicke bridge.

Here's a trailer:

Watched all three PREDATOR films last night.

Predator is still the best of all three and Predator 2 is some what over the top up to the metro train shoot out after that it does get a little better. Predators is better than the second one but why would the Predators drop their prey in by parachute?

And today started with 2010 odyssey two, about time they made the two other books in to films. Rounding off the Sci Fi weekend later tonight with the classic 1971...The Andromeda Strain.

The Andromeda Strain is one of my all time favorites of the sci-fi genre and probably one of the most over-looked films of its type...

I wonder if anyone else remembers a 1970 film, "Colossus: The Forbin Project"? This was the probably the first film to deal with the possibility of technology becoming the master of man, a sort of technological Frankenstein tale. If you get the chance to see it, it is well worth the effort...

Two awesome movies.

I liked the book "The Andromeda Strain". The book "Colossus" Not so much.

I hope that the remake plans will continue to be delayed. I just can't see Will Smith in that role.
