Default How did you tackle the "Iran to the Strait" mission.

For fun, I decided to try out some of the single missions in Sub Command, and one of them involved trying to intercept and sink an Iranian Kilo before it left the Persian Gulf.

Unfortunately, I discovered that the Kilo was damn near impossible to detect, with both passive (with the towed array streamed at a steady 5 knots mind you) and active sonar. Short of blindly firing torpedoes with the RTE's set to 1000 meters in every conceivable direction, I could not locate that damned Kilo.

To anyone who has beaten this mission, how have you tackled it?

sit at a shoke point it does take a few hours but eventually the kilo will come, bear in mind the bottom is shallow so any noise you make bounces off the bottom and up into your towed array use narrowband to find a kilo and all submarines keep turning and straightening out in a box area and you should detect it.

The Kilo is supposed to be quiet. Thats why the "SS" subs are what they are. =>Very dangerous!!!

That's funny, shooting a torpedo with 1000ZRTE in every direction...LOL...maybe if someone's driving a seawolf they can do that..

I'd love to try that technique online if i get into a pinch...although im too late ;too bad, i just loaded gamespycomrade , and it says no servers, so i 'm doomed...

il ltry the mission and get back to ya

I agree with Kapitan on this. Also you should receive a radio message that serves as a hint. This particular mission is a bit difficult, because even narrowband did not give me the correct classification of the Kilo (s). But I knew that the surface vessels were elsewhere, so I had to guess that these were the Kilos. Which is not real life but it serves the game well. Also the Kilo seems to get to its waypoint very fast, so I do not see how a few hours could play into this.
