Default Enemies of Germany chart?

I'm running TWOS 2.2.25.

I think in SH3 there was an "enemies of Germany" chart you could pull up that would show country flags and when they were enemies.

It's October 1939 and I have color contacts turned on.

I'm seeing ships like Sweden and Norway that I think should be neutral at this time show up at red on the map, and my gunners shoot at them, so I guess they are enemies.

How can I be sure who the bad guys are?

Thanks,
Steve

I don't have a computer with SH5 atm do it's from memory but there should be a chart with flag list and info on when a country is neutral/friendly/enemy in TWoS.

As for neutral flagged ships being treated as enemy by the game: TWoS includes "fake neutral" ships meant to represent these neutral vessels that did not abide by neutrality rules (carried weapons, joined enemy convoys or delivered supplies to enemy ports). These units can be attacked and their sinking counts like enemy ships. If you have colored contacts on spotting fake neutrals is simple, but if you don't you have to deduce it from their behavior and decide for yourself whether you want to risk sinking them.

Yes, there is a flags chart in SH5, but it is not nearly as comprehensive as the SH3 one I remember (may have been modded). The SH3 flag chart would give belligerent status for each flag (ally, neutral, enemy) by year.

The SH5 flag map just lists a few as neutral.

Here is the GWX SH3 Flag chart:

I'm seeing lots of Swedish-flagged ships that show up on the chart as red, for example.

I don't mind having "fake neutrals" but I need an accurate flag chart to tell me who is supposed to be neutral.

IIRC SH3 has a destinctive, easier to read friend/foe chart based on dates, similar to the above.

Right. So, does SH5/TWOS have similar?

I just want to know what flags to treat as friendly at any given date.

Hmm, as far as I know, no - TWoS has similar chart under "E"/Default/Flags but it dsoesn't show neutrality dates, only flags and note "neutral" for countries that stay neutral for entire war.

That said, it's just an image file so modifying it so that is shows dates like SH3 version would be pretty easy. If you'd like to try, the file in question is:

data/UserCharts/FlagChart.dds

Edit: By the way, regarding entire "how to tell neutrals from enemies" - while I understand not everyone might feel this way, I find some level of ambiguity to be a good thing. Mistakes happened, due to variety of reasons, and not being entirely certain whether ship in your sights is a valid target or not is a situation many commanders did find themselves in. For me, it adds to immersion even if sometimes leads to missing out on a juicy target or losing renown due to making a bad call.
