Default Weakest point of battleship

I have just made a mission, where my Iowa battle against Yamato. But I realized that Yamato ammor is just too strong; I can't make much damage.
Does anyone know where is the IJN Yamato weakest point?

Default welcome aboard!

vohai2003! IMHO STAY CONSTANTLY AHEAD OF YAMATO AT NIGHT-WITH SUPERIOR RANGE FINDING EQUIPMENT; TURNING TO CROSS 'T' AND KEEP HITTING AT MAXIMUM RANGE WITH ALL TURRETS WHILE ONLY YAMATOS' FORE TURRET CAN BE BROUGHT TO BEAR; IOWA HAS MORE AMMO AND GREATER SPEED SO DANCE AT MAXIMUM RANGE USE 'T' TACTIC AND THUS USE THREE TO ONE TURRET ADVANTAGE. JELLICO PERFORMED THIS SIMILAR MANEUVER AT JUTLAND IN WWI, CROSSING SCHEER'S 'T' AT NIGHT AND COMPELLING THE GERMAN FLEETS BATTLE-LINE TO TURN AWAY: IN THIS CASE YAMATOS OWN TURRETS ARE ITS 'BATTLE LINE' SO KEEP CROSSING THAT 'T' WITH THREE TURRETS TO HIS ONE. YOUR SPEED, BETTER RANGE EQUIPMENT, AND MORE AMMO, COMBINED WITH UNRELENTING ATTRITION TACTICS ARE THE ENEMY'S WEAKNESS. DO NOT CLOSE DISTANCE WITH YAMATO AS WITH HOOD VS BISMARK OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR ADVANTAGES.

Well, I saw that I made a stupid mistake.
I let two ship to close combat. As a result, my Iowa side turrets broken extremely fast.

Yay! Yamato has been taken down!
Cost: 1 torpedo, 700x3 main turret round, all rear battery, 1 main battery.
What I destroyed: all Yamato main turret, right rear battery and flak, all left battery, right engine and its hull.
Quite good for a beginner like me.
Thanks everyone!

unless you want to remod the damage zones for every single ship in the game, then just use my torpedo mod, its the best solution.

the bows of destroyers are indestructible without my mod, you can fire torpedo after torpedo and if it hits the very front of the bow then the DD will receive zero damage at all

the 25% is all you need if you want it realistic, the 50% increase is a mini cheat so you only need two torpedos for most ships, and you can even go higher if you want a cheat as in one torpedo per sinking

Actually I launched my torpedo to her engine room from starboard side, so half of her engine was shut down. But you right: I had already tried to destroy her hull, but her ammor was extremely hard.

The part that's in the water, or the part that's not in the water. I forget which one, but I do know it IS one of those though.

Default It only takes one if you do it right

A single torpedo in the forward or rear magazine will cause Yamato to go up in explosions and flames before sinking like a stone. The trick is to find that spot.

The forward magazine is under the fore turrets. You can find it with a little practice. The rear magazine is harder to hit, for me at least.

Good luck, and welcome to Subsim!

Default 1 hit takedown

I had already done a sucessful hit:
4 torpedoes to nearly the end of Yamato, all engine shut down.
It just stay still until 8 other torpedoes hit exactly the same spot.
Going down with last torpedo.
