Default Sub Chaser Shell Sponge

I thoroughly enjoy this (modded) simulation/game, and have resolved some of the irksome issues I encountered with some great mods. After unsuccessfully perusing the forum and Google for solutions, I now appeal to this community for help.

I was lurking around Rabaul minding my own business one very dark night when a sub chaser provoked me into attacking it with my deck gun. From 1000 yds astern I expertly delivered 25 rounds of 4" HE directly into the ass-end of the tub, and finding that to be miraculously insufficient, I added a few rounds of AP (which exploded, but in reality would likely just stroll completely through the flimsy wooden hull and whatever archaic contraptions could be stowed within). Incredulously, the boat suffered no perceivable damage, but kept on scratching my new paint job with return fire from both its stern and bow AA guns (I guess the bow gun was firing astern through all the holes I had put into the boat?). So, being not one to give up a fight, and pissed about the scratches, I set speed to flank and rammed the barely moving boat. Instead of splitting the chaser precisely in half, it just bounced off my prow and kept shooting at me, with its spotlight gleefully mocking my efforts to snuff this boat and all it stands for. Something I'm missing here? Is it covered in magical unicorn dust?

Reality should have been: first shell strike = crew stops firing to change underwear; second strike = crew takes a nap, boat distributes spare parts into local area; third strike = what boat?

What the hell is going on? I sank 2 huge liners with the same number of HE rounds. Another smaller liner barely grazed me as we passed one another on a dark and stormy night and it sunk.

Is there a mod to correct this silliness? Is there a ship damage file to tweak?

Default Welcome aboard!

Kapitan Kaos! Admiral Donitz said it best, "War is Kaos, and the Americans practice Kaos ...everyday!" But, U have no business remaining on
the surface getting 'provoked' into deckgun pecadillos with anything; and a working submarine is not a ramming weapon...move on, and find targets who's worth and cargos exceed the value of your costly torpedoes.

Thanks for the response Aktungbby.

So, is the assumption that the damage model consist of "damage boxes", and since I put all the rounds into the stern , thus destroying only the stern damage box, leaving other boxes undamaged, that is the reason why the sub chaser wasn't destroyed? Anyone know?

I just sunk a small gunboat with 10 rounds of HE applied liberally from bow to stern, thus hitting all the assumed damage boxes.
