Default Patches and Mods for SH4 Gold Edition

Hello Everyone,
I just got a disk for SH4 Gold Edition and I was looking for what patches I need if any and what mods to use. Looking through the web site I am overwhelmed with all the different patches and Mods their are. I see patches for the game but a lot of the patches seem to include the U-boat missions but the gold edition already has U-boat mission so I am not sure if I need those patches or not. And then there is just so many mods and maga mods I don't know where to begin. Any advice on what patches I should use and where to start with on Mods would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks.

You don't need any patches directly for the game, It should say V1.5 in one of the cut screens. As for Mods, Here is my personal list of preferred mods:

1. OM Darkwaters (german subs in the atlantic and med areas)
2. TMOwTW
3. FOTRS
4. IJN Climb Mount Nataka ( when you want to play on the Japanese side)
5. We dive at dawn (brit subs)
6. TMO (very hard for me why I put it lower)
7. KDS II Ace ( german)
8. Berbster
The last two are not stable for me.
I use seperate folders for each mod with the game in that folder. You need large address aware LAA, MultiSH4 1.5(to keep each mods save game under a different name(three letter name) and JSGME to activate the mod. I also keep separate copies of those in each folder. Word is not to have SH4 installed in the default C:\ Program files

+1 on what 1Patriot posted...except for his favorites list. we each have our own favorites.

also, there are several threads that have mountains of advice and answers to FAQ. here is a list for you to read as you begin your life as a SH4 Kaleun.

you will not be able to absorb all of this at once, so read up on the install advice and then go play some Stock missions, before you take on the mega-mods.
good luck, Herr Kaleun.
