Default Having issues with H.sie random diesel engines damage fix

Not sure if it's supposed to be this way, but randomly sometimes my diesels get damaged by running flank for only 5-20 minutes instead of the 1 hour said in the manual, seems to happen more often after the boat has just been surfaced, this wouldn't be a problem however if damage didn't occur 1 second after the warning message giving me no time to cut power quickly enough

Ahoy, Huno41...

If I recall it right, the h.sie fix for the diesels getting damaged, the fix is set to randomize the time frame... I believe.. I could be wrong, but for some reason that being random is floating about it My ol' dusty of a HD, called a brain pan... aka brain

Am sure someone more knowledgeable of the inner workings of it, may be able to either confirm or refute that...

When running your diesels flat out, you're not using a high TC setting, are you.?

If so, that cuts down the amount of time you have to react to the message of impending damages to the engines...

Better solution, is not to run all out flank, unless absolutely necessary, such as avoiding a depth charge attack & that, while submerged.

When surfaced, only use all head full, rather than flank... just a suggestion...

Hope this helps...

The time before damage is variable but agreed; a little more time between the warning message and the damage occurring would have been nice.
Warning message doesn't really serve any purpose since damage happens at the same time.

It happens so quickly that even at 4x you won't have time to prevent it. However, don't tc for very long at flank anyway.

The best thing to do is to just avoid using flank speed unless you're at x1 - x4 time compression, honestly the only times I use it are when i'm being attacked, crash diving or avoiding depth charges. Outside of that I just use the slightly lower speed setting as it's more than enough to overtake most ships/convoys.

Its still fun to use as engine problems were not uncommon.

Yes, not running the diesels at flank speed, unless in an emergency, is the best thing one can do.

Yes, historically, the Uboat diesel engines were not very reliable.

Salute, All !!!

I only go flank speed surfaced if I am being chased by a FLOWER class corvette in heavy seas at night. You can slowly outrun him, but you will need to give the diesels a rest every few minutes or you will damage them.
