My steam version works fine with GWX + several other mods?

Are you using H.sies hardcode fixes or the 4gb patch?

I assumed the 4gb patch would have been part of steam. It may seem not. Will try and locate this.

Thanks.

If you still get crashes after applying the 4gb patch, try setting the sh3.exe compatibility mode to Windows 7/Vista/XP. Running Win10 here and, for me, it crashes during patrol load almost every time, even with the 4gb patch, unless its also set to an earlier version of Windows. I've also read that you should set the exe to run as administrator, not sure if it makes a difference but can't hurt.

I had to use the patcher in the Silent Hunter 4 Fall of the Rising Sun mod to apply the 4GB patch to the steam version. It's the large address aware exe in that mod. The one that comes with GWX doest seem to let you select a file path. This worked for me. It otherwise crashed. I have the Steam version running with GWX and other mods.

I was experiencing random crashes as well until I installed the 4 Gig Patch. If you have not already, I would highly suggest trying that as a solution.

Hi Calvin809,
For clarity, GWX does not include a large address aware patch.
It does indeed need to be patched with one though.

Well that would explain why what I thought was one didn't work.
