Hey cdrsubron7 - that first mission - Appari bound

You should have just called "Die die die"

Got into a perfect position, then they zigged at the last minute

4 hasty shots, zero hits

Mucho depth charging

I had forgotten how slow the pigboat's are if you are trying to remain under 100rpm (about 3/4 of a knot)

Really gives you bugger all chance of clearing the area

After two hours of relentless attack I am done for

Jolly good work - a very enjoyable mission - I want to try it again tomorrow night to see if I can do any better

I had forgotten how b̶l̶o̶o̶d̶y̶ ̶s̶u̶i̶c̶i̶d̶a̶l̶ fun the S Boats are

Ain't that a *great* one?... They did the same ZAAAGGGGGGG on me, just as I was trying to get into position, although, they zagged right into me, so I had a shot of less than 900 yards, and the other of about 750, so I managed to hit them both. Both escorts came after me though, and they both have side-throwing capabilities... and "YES!!!!" pig boats are *slow* slow slow slow slow... even on the dive. See my comments on it at:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=885

I just did another, and I'm beginning to suspect cdsubron7's motives in making these missions... - me thinks his mean streak is as wide as an Akizuki DD's is long... - ya def don't wanna go bulling your way into one of his missions. By the same token, you can't sit back and let 'em come to you either, 'cause they won't...

Mostly for Rockin Robbin's use, but for everyone's inspection, in the WIP folder in the top-secret super hush-hush shared area is "801_Crash_And_Creaks_Fix.7z" for your listening pleasure. All files are now "mono", single-channel, at 44.1kHz 16-bits, and less than 15 seconds long. The main suspect, Submarine_CrashDive_INT.wav, has been butchered to be less than 15 seconds, and uses all Maddy sounds in its mix. The four "Creak" files were suspects, but we never found any concrete evidence of their being bad, -BUT- if they were deleted from the Sound folder, it was much tougher to get "The Sound", and since they also don't "comply" with an "Emulate Stock" paradigm, they've also been cut to less than 15 seconds, and are also all Maddy sounds, and mixed. I really should qualify that "Maddy sounds" thang... "Sounds found in Maddy's works"... He may have borrowed them, going by the credits in his ReadMe file. Anyway, if this gets included in the next beta, great. If not, oh well, next one. What you've been listening to previous to this has been a mixing of "Stock" and "FotRS" sounds, which may end up in a Sound Mod later, which would end up being a "899_Greatest_Hits_of_the_Modders", or some such...

There will be another "fix" or "patch" coming with other files made to comply with "Emulate Stock". Later.

btw, RR, you can delete all reference to "The Sound" and the earlier "work" of mine from that Google drive area - or can I do it??... I'll just go check out how destructive I can be...

Awww.....you guys got me figured out. It's my sole purpose in life to torment everyone with my single missions. If this be the case, stay away from the missons titled "Maximum Effort" and "Rabaul". I thought those were the toughest of the fifteen missions.

Ever hear of getting caught in a hornet's nest.

Besides you guys would want me making these missions too easy for you now would you?

I've encountered a problem with v.02 Beta. It's the same problem that I've encountered many times before when playing FOTRS v1.3. The game play gets very chopping and slows everything down to a crawl. It's at the point were nothing works. I have no idea what the cause is. All I can tell you is that I'm in a Balao class sub heading out on patrol from Midway. The date is Jan 17, 1944. Below is a screenie of the area where this happened.

I should also mention that this happened to me a couple of nights ago in the Gulf Of Thailand. This time it quit after awhile and I was able to continue on, but not tonight.

Thank you cdsubron7 for doing those missions. They are way good!

I don't know how bad your "slowdown" is, but I used to get that in TMOwtw also, but I never had a very strong computer, so laid it to that. Someone has mentioned before the huge double-column of destroyers they've encountered about there, that might be in that area. I of course, don't know, but it's what I've since supposed was happening to me back then. It's been a while since I've had that. You're just east of those "landmarks", which is about the area... I'll have to try coming in from the South and East both sometime tomorrow, and see what I get...

In the meantime, since CapnScurvy took all the "motor" type files off my hands, I have finished with the other files that did not comply with CapnScurvy's "Emulate Stock" suggestion. In the WIP folder of the usual place is "802_Emulate_Stock.7z". None of you *have* to use it, but give it a whirl if you feel adventurous. Use JSGME, and it should tell you it's going to change 21 files. There's 22 of them in there, but for some reason, it doesn't "change" the "Submarine_diving.wav" file on my computer. Maybe it was already there?... I don't know. I'll have to do me a "fresh" install tomorrow and try again for myself.

Let me know please, if you encounter issues with that one...

Edit: I just went to noodle with my own creations - I call 'em "Frankenstein's Little Monsters" - the "Crash_And_Creaks_Fix" will draw the Data folder out to the folder you extract to, which is NOT cool - who made this thing anyway? - Needless to say, I've pulled BOTH sets, and have replaced them with "PropbeanieSoundPatches.7z", which should be finished uploading in about three - er, no, five - er, no... minutes - maybe. If you have downloaded either or both of the old ones, please be careful where you extract them to, else you may lose your whole useable "Data" folder ... sorry

Just as an after mention I went back and started the patrol over again and this time nothing happened. Everything was normal. Thanks for mentioning the destroyers, propbeanie. You jogged my memory. The choppy game play started right after I encountered three Asashio destroyers, there might have been many more I suspect.

Great, I'll download it then put my changes with yours for a final release of the Sound folder.

I had mentioned I would look at the "Rudder Amidships" phrase being added to the game. After looking....I don't think so. The game takes the "Rudder" phrase, then adds a number to it indicating what degree off zero the rudder is asked to move to. This number can be a single digit or double depending on what's clicked on the Rudder Dial. You can have the phrase "Rudder one zero" when striking the 10 degree Port or starboard side of the dial. Or, the phrase "Rudder zero" when returning to the Amidships position. The point being the game is scripted to use digits to describe the rudder placement. This script is once again in the hard coded files....no way to change it. Can I change the zero phrase to amidships....yes, but when you strike the 10 degree rudder command, the phrase will be "rudder one amidships"! Not good if you ask me. Soooooo, we are left with what we've got.

Bummer Capn, 'bout the rudder comments, but very understandable from a programmers' pov... We'd have to add another Choice or If-Then-Else in there, and we don't have the code...

As a little side note, I've been noodling with what I did yesterday, as far as the two "patches" I uploaded. The first one "801_Creaks_And_Crash_Fix" will create a double folder (??!!??!!!), neither of which are named 801_Creaks_And_Crash_Fix. The second one "802_Emulate_Stock", while it doesn't create an extra folder, also doesn't have the "802_" in its name. One of these days, I might get used to building an archive... maybe. Sorry 'bout the folders' "structure".

Neither Photobucket, nor MediaFire, nor that cauldron of simmering clickbait, Breitbart (how do they expect ANYONE to use their website? It's a minefield but a great testing grounds for countermeasures) is a bit of a problem.

Ad Muncher reduced all of them to usable websites. They might nag you about blocking ads but tough toenails. They asked for it.

I bought Ad Muncher back in the day when I was a moderator for some Yahoo Groups. Yahoo has been rotten to the core for fifteen years, just a site so full of advertising that you couldn't do business. After Ad Muncher it was just another normal site.

The beauty of Ad Muncher is first it's free now. But it doesn't filter stuff for your browser. It filters stuff for your COMPUTER. Every single program on your computer that uses the Internet is protected by Ad Muncher automatically. So if you use more than one browser you're covered. If you use an advertising infected application ZAP!

It's so bad that I was on RC Groups and people complained about invasive ads. I had no idea that they were there. Had to temporarily deactivate Ad Muncher (a single checkbox toggle in the app) to see what they were talking about.

Instead of seeing the ad you can see the text of your choice or a text link to the ad like [Ad: The newest naval sim by Totel...] I'm looking at here on Subsim. I win!

Your sound work will be part of the core mod, as will Capn Scurvy's motor work.
