Default Atlantic vs Pacific

I've been wondering about the different underwater op-areas in WW2; specificaly the two major ones, German U-Boats in the Atlantic, and American Submarines in the Pacific.

I'm sure that some people find both equally facinating, but most people I've spoken to seem to favor one or the other. I'm interested to hear from anyone who wants to tell me which they favor, and why. If you favor one of the other areas, I'd be interested to hear about that, as well.

For myself, I tend to favor the Atlantic. German U-Boats against British convoys interests me because of the intelligence and technology changes, and the way it made patrols harder, and harder, as the British got better at handling the U-Boats.

In the Pacific, at least according to what I've read, the Japanese were . . . really bad at dealing with American Submarines. Obviously there were losses, and lots of them. But it never felt, at least to me, like the kind of slowly building doom that the U-Boats in the Atlantic dealt with.

I'd be interested in what anyone else has to say. And if I'm wrong about my impressions, I'd love to be corrected, too.
