Default Imperial/Metric option problem

For some reason the imperial/metric option is resetting everytime i launch Silent Hunter 4.
I have my problems with imperial measurements, so i've set it to metric in the game options and checked after campaign start in the office that it is set to metric too, it was. So i sailed to sea for my first patrol and saved the game.
But everytime i launch the game, the option is set to imperial again in game options and in my saved game.
The only solution i found, was setting it to metric in game options on every launch of the game again, before loading my savegame, wich is starting to be very annoying.
Please help! Wich file do i have to edit, so the game is set to metric by default?

calm down.
take a breath.

first, which of the three mission types are you playing: single mission, war patrol, or career?
the Options for single mission and war patrol are controlled from the main interface screen.
the Options for career missions are controlled from the in-port interface screen by using the radio set on the shelf on the left of the screen.
each of Options is independent from the other and once set will remain that way EXCEPT when you begin a career. then the Options are reset based on your Difficulty selection on the Career start screen (EZ vs Medium vs Very Hard). Once you've been assigned your boat, you can then click on the radio set and adjust the Options.

hope that helps. if not, please explain your situation further.

that's the problem, the option is resetting back to imperial in gameplay options on the main screen every time i launch the game. I have to set it back to metric after each game launch before playing single mission or loading my career.

For example:
- launching game, changing the option to metric, launching single mission (or career savegame), everything is in metric as set.
- exit the game
- launching the game, option is set to imperial again by itself. Starting a single mission or career savegame - everything is imperial.

the option seems not get saved for some reason. I have to change it after each game start.

Have you noticed any other settings resetting themselves, or is it unique to the imperial/metric setting?

that sounds like Windows 10 may be getting in your way.
what you describe is very uncommon and it seems that when these uncommon things arise, the culprit is Win10.
can you reply with the JSGME config? (Tasks-Export-To Clipboard)
that will show your installation and mod set.

i will try it out now without any mod enabled, and see if this change the situation.

[edit] disabling the mods does not solve the problem. Will try to delete the "SH4" folder in "My Documents" folder and reinstall the game again and see if the problem remains in vanilla version (never checked this).

[edit 2] made a fresh install on E: drive after uninstalling the game and deleting "SH4" folder in "My Documents". Still no luck
One thing is suspicious - there is no option for Imperial/Metric/Authentic in my GameplaySetting.cfg

If the GameplaySettings.cfg is from your saved games folder, Mine is showing the same as yours, with the exception of this included right below:

[MiscSettings]
CurrentNation=American
MeasurementUnits=authentic

No idea what would cause yours to not have that info included in it...

M. M.

It 'may' be possible, to edit yours & add that info right below it to look like Mine... see copy of Mine below:

[Current]
LimitedBatteries=true
LimitedCompressedAir=true
LimitedO2=true
LimitedFuel=true
RealisticRepairTime=false
ManualTargetingSystem=false
NoMapUpdate=false
RealisticSensors=true
DudTorpedoes=true
RealisticReload=false
NoEventCamera=false
NoExternalView=false
NoStabilizeView=false
MPShowPlayerNames=false
MPShowTorpedoes=false

[MiscSettings]
CurrentNation=American
MeasurementUnits=authentic

Be aware to include 1 line both above the starting line & the last line... before copying that info & pasting it over your save game copy of GameplaySettings.cfg & saving it... am confident that should resolve your issue.. if any one else can confirm that would be appreciated...

p.s.

Would stress of making sure to keep a back up copy of your .cfg file & also make sure that everything else matches the true/false tags, as well.. just thought of that, after I added in the entire .cfg that I have here... so that the copy you have as I do have the main one in the SH4 folder install is edited to My tastes, as is the Main.cfg, as well...
