Default Leaving The Patrol Area?

Jane's i688 Hunter Killer. I created a scenario with a Soviet Delta III doing a transit patrol at 10 knots. It's Heading was 180'. My heading was 90' at 10 knots! I reached the end of patrol area around 18:00 hours, the depth of the water was 17,000 feet! I had -500 points deducted for running aground!
Is it possible to leave one area for another? I thought it was all one big ocean!

Thanks!

It IS one big map.
Missions (and campaigns) are limited to the area that gets loaded at the start of the mission. In that way, each mission is "stand alone". Meaning, you can't drive from one mission into another one. Each mission must be loaded on its own.
I've run off the map on some test missions (in DW and SC) to see what would happen and you just cover more ground. Besides the sea bed and land masses, there's nothing to interact with.
How that gets translated in the different games may be different.

Thanks, ET2sn!

My son is running a copy on his Windows XP computer! He's also learning how to play by book!

Underwater Acoustics Analysis Design and Performance of Sonar By Richard P. Hodges Found this book on the internet archive! Very Informative! Seems to know the Sonalyst's people quite well!

Thanks!
