Default Adventures of SuperCutie

Playing around with a high speed long range "super cutie", got it to run 14,000 yards at 48 knots and has a bang bigger than the Mark 16. The mod will also have an option to make the improved SuperCutie as the default loadout for all US subs. One snag - the torpedo display shows the original speed and range whatever I put in the sim file, but testing in game shows that it runs at the new speed and range. It's obviously getting the numbers for actual speed/range from Torpedoes_US.sim, but the displayed numbers must come from somewhere else. Anybody know where?

Try: DATA-MENU-menu(text document). Scroll down to TORPEDO NAMES, # 5370. I haven't searched anywhere else.

First one looks promising;

5375=MARK 27|Speed: 12 kt|Range: 4,500 m|Propulsion: Electric|Note: Homing torpedo

Don't recall if menu.txt is used in other mods, but not that critical anyway - whatever it says in the menu.txt file, the numbers in the .sim and .zon files specify what the fish actually do in game.

Current testing I actually managed to sink myself, had a SARGO with SuperCuties in the stern tubes, Mark 14s in the bow tubes. Fired all the stern tubes at 8000 yards toward an approaching task force, then went to flank speed, turned 180 degrees to close the range for Mark 14 shots - and managed to sink myself when the last SuperCutie turned around and homed on my screws. In general, even with duds off they manage to do weird things like weaving the wrong way, missing the target, then circling around it and deciding to hit something else instead. One problem is the steering radius, designed for 12 knots and running at 48 knots they make wider turns.

So far I've been experimenting just with the stern tubes, trying to find the minimum safe range before going to flank speed. No data I can find on the hydrophone range for these things, but so far 48 nautical miles = 97217.8 yards divided by 60 comes out to 1620 yards per minute. Blowing yourself up isn't the only problem, the main thing they seem to be good for is eliminating escorts, because they tend to veer off course to head for the closest loudest sound. Found I have to space them out a minute or so between shots, 10 second spacing means several of them will home in on and hit the same target more often than not.
