How about a Kickstarter project for it?
I would have my share in the project!

Anyone willing to start a kickstarter for a Modern Subsim, I´m in too!

The original has been released on Steam and is already setup with DOSbox. Maybe this'll spark some more interest in a remake!

Oh well, we happen to be working hard on this - among other things - and we're fortunate enough to have the acknowledgement of M.Fletcher while doing so, which is most precious a feeling.

For we are simply like you, in dire need of a successor and actively looking for the next game that will be worthy of this double legacy (I say double, as I'd include 1942:Pacific Air War in the package too!).

We will try to assume the mantle as well and as far as possible considering our available means! Crossing fingers!

Oh wow, this is more than i expected when necro-ing (sorry mods) this thread. Is there a forum/website for this project? A kickstarter/donations page somewhere?

This game really scratched my tactical/FPS/operational itches. A true marvel of its day and i still havent found anything like it. All combined in a game of like 10MB!

I remember getting the frantic messages of general Alexander Vandergrift when pushed out of henderson field. Or sinking that Aoba class cruiser with the HMAS Australia. Unleashing long lances in the 1st battle of Savo. Memories, memories!

*sigh*

Well, UglyMowgli was kind enough to start a thread a few days ago within these very walls
In here:

Except, alas (for you I mean) we're starting our work with the hard part - that is the PAW carrier battle part. We will slowly but surely progress in order to cover everything the Pacific series of MPS did, and for sure the tactical surface combat will be there from the start, but the ship platform-level simulation won't. You will have to be patient
