Default Experimenting with voices

The German part of SH4 did not convince me much to say, by the mixture of orders in a loud voice, with others pronounced in a very low voice, whispers typical of those who gossip. So I brought everything I had of German voice acting from Das Boot from Silent Hunter III, and combined it with what I had from SH4. It improved a lot, but also the German mod "No Jawoll" also helped me to put an end to that annoying and repetitive "Yes sir" of the US Navy. After all, a submarine is not an aircraft carrier with thousands of crew members, it is a small family where the treatment is a little more informal!

The repetition is a function of the game. "Yes sir." is a short phrase, and theoretically is designed to repeat once in the game. However, the game uses "time" for its number of repeats. What usually happens, if there are no other sounds playing at the same time as the "Yes sir" sounds, then you might get 2 or 3 repeats, since the phrase is so short. If something repeats too often, add a moment of preceding or trailing silence to the audio file, such that it has a more difficult time repeating. If the next phrase doesn't sound, then you need to shorten the ogg audio file. It can be very frustrating to "adjust"...

I hadn't thought about the technical aspect of the game, and the question is certainly as you describe it. Anyway, little by little I am adjusting the submarine simulator to my liking. Cheers!
