Default Venting

Just venting. Have rolled up on the same convoy about times now in U-65, my type IXB boat.

Just west of Gibraltar, launched all 4 tubes on 3 different ships (including a oil tanker) and execute a turn to starboard to get the stern tubes off aaaand. my game crashes.

Every. Single. Time.

Atm just running GWX 3.0 with SH3 Commander. Just getting back into playing the game after a really long hiatus so didn't want to fudge around too much. I'm noticing I get CTDs when I leave port and go to external view (either bridge or f12) and from this example, a convoy. So not sure if the game is just taking a dump when there's a lot of assets in a close area or if there is some other issue.

Edit. Have now sunk the same bloody large freighter about 3 times. Every time I go to external camera to look at my handywork the game CTDs. Thinking that may be the source.

Are you using the 4-GB patch?

I don't know what that is so I'm assuming no. Is it included in the GWX files because if not I am definitely not.

Sounds like maybe a memory issue. What are your system specs ?

The 4-GB Patch allows the game to use more memory and it is part of H.Sie's mod/patch. Alternatively you can download Large Address Aware, a small utility that patches executable files to expand the memory used by the program to 4-GB.

The H.Sie Patch adds a lot of neat features to SH3 but some people find it a trial to install correctly. It's somewhere in the Downloads section.

Large Address Aware can be found at the URL below and is all but necessary to run SH4 with mods:

Good Luck
