Default Silent Service 1+2 on GOG

I hate to be advertising other sites on Neal's website, especially since he gets monies from people buying via the Amazon link, however, this is too important to slip our collective fingers.

With digital distribution of classic subsim titles limited as it is, today's release of Silent Service 1+2 on GOG presents a breath of fresh air. So for those of you wishing to replay the classics of yore without paying an arm and an leg, follow the link bellow.

I happened to see these when I logged into GOG before coming here today and immediately bagged them. After a few quick plays, it is amazing to see how far subsims have come in almost 30 years. I also find it surprising that none of the newer sims model worrying about chlorine gas from damaged batteries, which Silent Service II does model. I remember playing Silent Service on the NES when Konami/Ultra ported it over to the system. Good times.

I still prefer the transiting as implemented in Silent Service 2 compared to Silent Hunter 3 etc. It's just much quicker to find a battle.

Awesome news! My first subsim (at the tender age of 10, when I was my dad's XO ) and probably the ultimate reason why I'm on this site and why I play simulation games in general

Now I wish they'd add AoD someday too
