Default Bow/Stern-independent external torpedoes???

Hello all,
So I'm using the Type IX U-boat and it has external torpedoes. For some reasons the devs decided to make separate Bow / Stern external reserves - even though it doesn't make much sense - most of the external torps were in fact stored vertically, most of them right behind the conning tower (you can actually see the lids for their compartments in the game!), and each one of them could have been loaded either into the front or rear torpedo rooms.

Is there a mod that removes this silly front/rear separation for external torps and allows loading any external torp into either torpedo room?

I say research is in order to determine why the devs made such a decision. My money is on "that is the way it was so that's the way it is." The devs didn't get very much wrong, especially with U-boats.

I think the use of the word "silly" in reference to the tubes' use and placement seems a bit over the top, especially when you don't have any knowledge of why that was true.

I need you to clean out the torpedo external storage bins.

They were stored horizontally in containers under the deck between the outer hull and pressure hull. There is no way to do vertical storage without penetrating the pressure hull. Also trying to hoist a 1½ ton torpedo past the conning tower seems a risky proposal.

I read an account where they actually had to move to torpedoes in this fashion. It involved a foolhardy several hours on the surface and floating the torpedoes around from bow storage to stern loading or the other way around, I forget which way they were switching torpedoes.

At any point a plane from one of the hunter killer groups could have ended their miserable lives in seconds. Hope the commander was busted because it was total stupidity.

Also imagine the damage to the self-esteem of the torpedo room crew who was so little valued by the captain that he risked all their lives to take their torpedoes. Time for that commander to be relieved of command.

Someone will have to correct me, 'cause I'm probably not remembering correctly, but it seems to me that the external stores are just a copy of the "internal" stores, hence the "forward" and "aft" designations. I'm thinking it was someone asked in Traveller Mod, or maybe Operation Monsun, but I couldn't find it with a quick glance

if you want to read through those. Seems to me though, that it was way back when, before these two versions, where someone asked about it... ??
