Default Final Steps For Returning to SHIII

Hello all!

Finally got a working copy of SHIII on hand, with some amazing and wonderful assistance from blackswan40.

One more issue has arisen though, and I turn once more to you again.

I've GWX and other mods installed, and have SH3 Commander alongside (with the appropriate GXW files). However, it seems not to be connected, fully, at least, to the SH3 install. While I can start from SH3 commander, none of the options I select (namely skipping the intro movies) are taking effect, and when going to begin my career, the prompts for the year and flotilla I choose are not there, nor do I start in the boat that I choose.

Any clever minds out there have the solution? Thank you in advance

In the Commander options, did you point to your SH3 install path ?

That I did, and just reverified it. Path is currently C:/Program Files(x86)/Ubisoft/SH3, where the executable is.

There is your problem. Windows hate, hate, hates SH3 in the program files directory. Uninstall and reinstall to a non-program files directory.

There's your problem; install the game into a separate folder. NOT in program files.

Thank y'all. Been a while since I've had to do this. Could have sworn my old install on my last computer was in the same location.

SH3 modded is a great sim, but there are 101 things to remember to get it to work the way you want it to. Let us know when you are up and running again.

A'ight, so I've tried a few times rewriting the install path to the standard Program Files folder, but it now refuses to install at all depsite making a Ubisoft/SHIII folder within to install.

May I get the path y'all use for your SHIII installs as reference?

Don't use anything program files related period. I.e., make a path like Gilmar said.
Using his example you can even just make it C:\Silent Hunter 3

So, current path I'm attempting is C:/Games/Silent Hunter III/, but each time I try to install on anything other than the x86, I get this error.

'The specified folder Silent Hunter III is invalid, incomplete, or write protected. Please select a valid install path.'

Further tips?

Maybe try running the install as administrator. What version are you installing; cd, steam, etc. ?
