Sounds good to me.

Last night in first patrol when we met the three hurris I went off after one as I saw you and fin had the other two. I shot him down then saw 2 C-47s and thought you two were dealing with the Hurris....then fin and I took down the C-47s and couldn't find anyone else...

Seeing I won't be able to sleep tonight I think I'll come and play.

Teamwork practice via dogfighting sounds good

A few more lines about yesterday: Pretty soon after doing one run on the Hurris I lost both them and Hunter in a cloud. Even after a bit of diving and climbing I couldn't find them again, so I climbed above the clouds and spotted tracers, which turned out to be Xabba firing at the C-47s. Xabba just finished one run when I arrived, so I made a run on the other one which actually turned out to be his target(sorry!). My cannons quickly sawed off his wing, so I pulled up and away to give Xabba some cover when he took out the other C-47. At this points Hunter called for help. Apparently he had shot down one Hurri, while the other Hurri had found him and was firmly stuck in the six of his damaged 109. After a bit of searching I found Hunter, who by now was almost out of fuel due to a fuel leak, and managed to give the Hurri a taste of the Emil's cannons. Apparently he didn't like them because he promptly baled out. Hunter baled out or crashlanded(didn't see which), so I rtb'd on my own. On the way I bumped into a couple of AI 109s chasing P-36s, and remembering AIs habit of stealing kills I "stole" one of the 36s losing my rudder in the process. After trying to catch a few Blenheims and witnessing Oberon's death it was time to land the "tailplaneless" 109, which was luckily accomplished without further carnage

Ok, thats settled lets pick a day during the week, and I'll make a Dogfight map that will be our training grounds.

with ground targets, 3 - 4 different colours of Teams, flak batteries near targets to simulate campaign level bombing. ground convoy's to practice ground strafing.

Started a DGC single player campaign tonight. Took me a lot quicker than I thought to get back into it. I was definitely jerking the stick too much. I forgot how smooth it should all be.

I have limited ammo off while I'm honing my gunnery skills again. I ended up taking out 14 aircraft including 4 G4M's on the ground, one coming in for a landing, a flight of D3A's, and Zeros.

Well, are you coming to fly with us then?

Gunnery and flight skills are not required, looking at our track record so far

Looks like you have a pretty good start

For re-adaptation I'd recommend trying out the P-38(any model). No torque, easy to fly, excellent cockpit visibility, easy to land. It's also a stable gunnery platform, fairly well armed and all guns are in the nose so you don't have to worry about convergence.

I think those french gunners must ALL have laser sights, here was I thinking that a Blenheim would be a nice pretty easy kill, I've taken out enough bombers with a Spit or Hurri before, just tuck in behind, stay low and aim for the engines. But, no! Mr Frenchie had a sniper rifle in that gunner position
Still, at least I redeemed myself the next mission by destroying the flak truck that caused so much chaos on takeoff.

Here's a shot as I orbited the runway after dealing with the flak truck, the distant smoke is Hunter, the closer one an AI which then blocked the runway for the two AI sitting behind it. Needless to say, I took one look at that and picked another airfield to land at

I'm going to run a Bomber pilot from now on, taking He 111s whenever they're available and Bf 109s whenever they're not (I won't be taking STUUUUUUUUKKAs because of my hardware problems at the moment, nor Ju 88s because I can't hit a thing with those and it'll take me a while to learn to operate that overly-complicated Bomb Sight thingamajiger)

Level bombing manual 2.0

Have fun

If you mean the Stuvi dive-bombing sight, then here's one tutorial: http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/stuvi_guide.htm

You can also do it like this:

1) Set "Bombsight altitude" to wished release altitude, and "Bombsight speed" to your best guess on the speed at the moment of release

2) Above the target roll inverted, throttle to zero, extend dive brakes and set "Bombsight automation" on.

3) Keep the short horizontal line on the target. Release the bombs when you hear the release sound(BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP)

4) Retract dive brakes, throttle to full, get out of there.

I can deal with level bombing, but when you have a complicated bomb sight for dive bombing it gets much harder...

EDIT: Oh, the 88 has the level sight too, well I could use that instead of the Stuvi

EDIT 2: Hmm, seems the Stuvi isn't so bad, guess I'll use the Ju 88 instead of the 111 when available

Sorry guys, but from 19:30 local time on I could not convince my router anymore to let me access the Internet (maybe my provider was doing maintenance work or something..).
So one could say I ran out of luck yesterday but around 22:00h I was compensated with an extra portion of luck.... o.k. it was only bad luck but hey, one shouldn't be so picky, should one?
First I felt so sick all of a sudden that I was forced to part with my stomach contends in a reversed way, if you know what I mean. After doing this three times my body finally got bored with it and tried something new by switching to have the runs instead....

Well I'm still feeling quite weak and strange right now so I'm not sure whether I'll be joining you tonight.

but if you're the leader you have to tell your wingman everything you do with your engine management (throttle, radiators, mixture, superchargers, prop pitch) so he can keep up with you.
The problem with 2on2 fights is that... well.. there is only 2 enemies to look for! You spot one and you see the other one too if they're in formation. So, the fight turns to 1vs1 + 1vs1, making team tactics useless.

Tho, this could be avoided by making the fights as "rounds" i.e. shot down pilot doesnt spawn immediatly and head to aid his mate. This method would make it more rewarding to work as a team to take out the enemies one by one. :hmm:

perhaps we could do a 1-day a week Dogfight session where we practice Teamwork between 2 pilots (leader&Wingman), Bomber escort, bomber killing and some more stuff.

Good idea.

-edit-

Good idea.
Yep, that was the idea
you can take off again, as soon your teammate has been shot down or landed.
(you may respawn but NOT take off)

AI is always working in pairs....you'll notice that one is breaking and you'll follow him while the other one is sneaking up your six and without a wingman of your own, you're doomed.

also if we have I.E 6 players we are going 2 vs 2 vs 2.

Restrictions/rules -

*the 2 aircraft of Leader&Wingman must be the same (I.E Leader -FW190A4 Wingman - FW109A4)

*before we start we'll discus which class aircraft we are going to use (early War, mid-war, late-war) and all the teams have to pick the same class when decided.

*for this teamwork Dogfight practice event, I turn off the Free camera (Locked Cockpit ON) to prevent peaking where the others are flying about, looking at the terrain/rivers and towns/cities you can tell where they are when looking on the navmap
''for other practice events like Level bombing it will be unlocked again''

Any more suggestions?
