Default Hydrophones bug?

I seem to remember that there was a bug with this game where if ships are moving slowly, they don't show up on hydrophones. Am I remembering this correctly? If so, was a fix ever developed? My internet searching skills are failing me on this.

I have noticed that after attacking a convoy, the IJN DDs will occasionally stop, sit and listen, causing their associated blue azimuth/range lines to disappear from the plotting board..

Since their engines aren't running and making noise, the hydrophones have nothing to hear and nothing to display...
This can be very embarrassing if the DDs tactic goes unnoticed, as the sub Skipper thinks it's all clear and starts making noise to get away only to attract some unwanted attention...

yes, you are correct that situation happens and no, there is no fix...it is part of the game.

very often, you will be tracking a "slow" moving convoy on sonar and the lead DD suddenly disappears. that is because her "slow" speed is too quiet to register on the sonar.

your only recourse is to occasionally check the DD on one of the periscopes.
or give the DD a reason to speed up.

Yes for very low speed ships, SH4 Hydrophones are deaf ...for the player, not for the hydro guy.
Nothing can be done to fix this, except giving more speed to ships of course.

Blast. I've been stumbling upon single merchants without so much as a peep on the hydrophones. I weep to think of all the ones who've gotten away due to this!

I'm still in 1941 in my s-18. I can't afford for my targets to get any faster!
