SHO Re: Weelcome to subsim...

THEBERBSTERS page here on subsim, has a lot of useful info concerning SH 3, 4 & 5... would highly recommend that you go to THEBERBSTER page & click on the link there for SH3... that will be the very top one concerning installing & running SH3 and using it to get SH3 to where you can not only run it, but... be able to add in GWX 3.

Those instructions helped me to get my SH3 to work with mega mods like GWX & Living Silent Hunter 3-2015 version.

He gives a very complete lay out on how to do that.

To get to his page, just click the link below.

SH5 got a bad reputation from the start because it wasn't SH3. It gives great and loving detail to all sub-variants of the Type VII boats, but no Type II or Type IX. It was also very buggy. While adding the other types of boats is an extremely task, the one big megamod, The Wolves Of Steel, takes the very best of the available smaller mods, plus a few of its own, and makes SH5 into a very playable, very enjoyable game which is easily the best-looking version of SH there is likely to be.

That's the short version.

I had the same doubts. Thank you for all the information. Now I am downloading LSH3.

Default Another new SH3 player and SubSim member

When I was a child, I was very passionate about the army. On my computer I was playing many military games, Tomb Raider and football. A year ago I discovered Steam and bought my childhood games, including the Silent Hunter series. After I'm done Delta Force series, MiG-29 Fulcrum, F-16 Multirole Fighter, F-22 Lightning 3, Comanche 4 and Battlestatios series, two weeks ago I started playing Silent Hunter III. After many research I found interesting historical information about Uboats, including finish, romanian and spanish subs and this site. At first contact the community seems to be the most welcoming and user Sailor Steve provides useful information for a newcomer.

I started my campaign in 1939 at 43% realism. My first Uboat was Type IIA only for two patrols. Next five patrols I played with Type IIB and after, finally VIIB. I did 4 patrols with VIIB but one of them was crazy +100.000 GRT (I managed to sunk the two escorts ant all the T2 tankers first). I don't want VIIC, perhaps Type IX but I don't care now because I am focusing to learn as much as I can this game. The Type II was very important because now I can appreciate my VIIB much better. In 2005 this game was to complicated for me but now It is not anymore and I am happy!

Sadly my laptop can not run Wolfpack and Uboat but I can play Silenr Hunter 3 and 4 and I am not sure about 5.

William was wont to make things up anyway, and I just quoted his script of the scene... "Artistic license" he used to say...
