Default Quick Question

So i recently started playing SH4, with the U-boot Mission add-on, and I noticed in the Museum that there is a Type XXI sub in the game.
How do I unlock it?
I tried with quick missions but there aren't any for the German side in my game, and I've played for 3 hours on the 1944 campaign

dude,
welcome to subsim.
if you want to drive a Type XXI boat you will have to play OpMonsun (OpM).
this is advanced SH4 so be prepared for some challenges.
on the way to playing OpM you will need to learn how to use JSGME to manage the mods (organized changed to the base game).
here is the link to OpM. Fifi is the current lead guy for that mega-mod.

here is the link to the current version of JSGME.

if you decide to play OpM, you will need to use the ATO Forum which is a subforum to this one.

Good Luck, and Good Hunting.

With all respect, Kaleun, I've not tried Operation Munson, but you are not correct regarding the availability of the Type XXI in the UBoat missions. You just have to earn it to get it. I'm not sure of the required parameters in terms of prior mission successes and dates, but I do know that you can get one while based at Penang in either late 1944 or early 1945. I have done so multiple times. That Walther Drive is incredible!

no offense taken.
i have not played the Stock-German side in years and so my memory is filled with OpM.

so, DudeBroes, head out to Penang and try to stay alive until '45 and give that XXI a drive. {sorry, it was low hanging fruit}

It is. A Type XVIII in a Type XXI's body.

As to OPs question, start a career and if you do well enough you can get upgraded to it.

Default Thanks for the answer

I didn't really expect much, I thought it was a leftover from SH3 like many things in SH4, so I am pleasantly surprised, and I'll download that Setup as soon as I can
