Default Unable to set difficulty settings for campaigns.

I can set the difficulty in the main menu and it works for everything, but campaigns revert to medium difficulty. I bought the game and DLC on steam and it says version 1.5 but it does not seem to have all of the things that were present in SH3. Anyways, without the difficulty staying set I have no interest in playing this, and I want to play it. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

radar Re: Welcome aboard...

BH-21!

Ok, now... that, that is out of the way... onward to your... conundrum, shall we...

Once you have a career started, & ... landed there, in office, at base...

there is the means to select career options.

It is that radio, up on the bookcase/fileCabinets... just to the left of the desk.

That radio, on clicking it... will open up a whole new set of option menu's... similar to the main loading screen ones.

It is in there, that you'll need to make any changes... to career difficulty.... NOT in the main menu options area.

Hope this helps... clarify things...

SHIV v1.5, is NOT SH3.... which SH3, was primarily German U-boats.

That SH4, there... is 1st & foremost, U.S. fleetboats, with an add on of German U-boats (hence, the ": Uboat Missions" addition to the end of the SH IV title. ), but... focusing on the general, relatively small group of them, that served in the Pacific... in the allegiance that was between Germany & The Empire of Japan, in effect during that time.

Now... there is at least 2 mod sets, that further refine the U. S. fleetboat experience... namely TMOverhauled v2.5 Bubblehead1980 edition.... & TMO based "Fall of the Rising Sun - Ultimate, (currently v1.8 build) that will add immeasurably to that side of sub simming with SH IV.

On the Uboat side of it... there is... Operation Monsun: Dark Waters v6x, &... KSD II: Ace edition (v1.4.1, last I know of... ), to round it out...

There are a couple of other mod set ups... such as We dive at Dawn (but... note, that this is only obtainable from the bonus mods section, if... you are a subscriber of any size... just so you know, if you did not, already know that. ) & quite a few other mod mixes... not in the bonus mods section, too. Just be aware that some of thos, are for the older SH IV v1.3/v1.4 version... & don't play well with intermixing those mods with ones designed for v1.5 of SH IV, though.

So... can't say you weren't warned.

Hope this info helps...

There's also the Japanese side IJN Jyunsen B mod v 3.9999.3 BH-21 I've been playing SH4 since it came out and didn't realize there was two different places that the settings were changed from, main screen and in port. I believe it was Mad Martigan that clued me in recently. Questions on anything, they are all here. Lot's of great guys and modders and mods here that make the vanilla version come alive after you get ho hum about it. I suggest supporting the site.

True, 1Patriotofmany...

On that, about the IJN mod set up.... though, was a bit... reluctant to mention that 1... too much. As is, that 1 still needs loads of TLC, to make it work properly.

A great lot of things that need to be cleaned up, refined... campaign things to sort through... just to name a few.

Just have to be real careful, on which sub you go to attempt to do a career with... but... what is there, does look nice... I will admit that.

Once that is given a lot of TLC... will make a fine, grand addition to the SH IV, line up of mod mixes.

The latest version works fine for me. Even the subs with two main guns work fine.
