Support Hull Damage Numbers

Are the numbers a percent?
3 digits.
If not a percent, what do they represent and what should I be concerned over?

I've seen a couple explanations. One is an actual percent. 100% means the hull is completely damaged. Critical damage happens somewhere at a lower percentage. The other explanation is it's percentage of damage leading up to sinking. 50% damage means the hull is half way to collapsing. 100% means the hull is collapsing. Of course, with either one, with a weakened hull, if the boat goes too deep, the hull will take more damage.

what fireftr said is true: the number is a percentage of damage and when it reaches 100% you are dead. D-E-D dead.

and before you ask, no, there is no abandon ship command.

Actually, I think you start to tip the scale to the point of no return at 40%. If you hit that, you will eventually sink. Of course, there are ways to get below 40% all too easily... - as has been mentioned elsewhere: "don't ask me how I know"...

I've made port after 55% damage, but that was done on the surface, not at depth. I've never recovered from above 40% damage at depth, though it's very rare but catastrophic to take even a small hit well below the test depth, my preferred post-attack profile.
