Default [REL] British standard destroyers

Hello!

Tried to create models of the British 1930s standard destroyers more realistic than those originally in SH3 (NDE_River, NDD_C&D). The models represent A, B, C (= Canadian River), D, E&F, G&H, I, and Havant classes:

Originally fleet destroyers, they were gradually replaced by more modern types, and transformed into escorts. The C/River and Havant classes represent the transformation; all other models sport the fleet destroyer outfit.

The package includes new 4.7 inch guns and torpedo launchers.

That's the RN flag. The Maple Leaf wouldn't be there anyway, as they didn't use it until 1957. This is the WW2 Canadian flag.

What about GWX campaign? Will these new destroyers be properly scripted into GWX campaign after I enable them?

They will show ingame as the RND does call for generic type=4 ( destroyer ) entries

If you fancy a challange you can open the SCR in note pad and in the find function type in
HMS E and hit find

After a couple of HMS Eskimo ( Tribal class ) you will come across HMS Esk which by looking thru the roster cfgs of this mod you will find was an E class destroyer

[Group 26.Unit 2]
Name=HMS Esk
Class=DDV&W
Type=4
Origin=British

Change to

[Group 26.Unit 2]
Name=HMS Esk
Class=DDE&F
Type=4
Origin=British

There are many instances such as that in the SCR - when I added any new scripting I always tried to use the real ships names just incase that model came available at a later date
As in this case

Hit find again and next one in the list is

[Group 43.Unit 28]
Name=HMS Escapade
Class=DDCClass
Type=4
Origin=British

again HMS Escapade was an E class destroyer

Further 21 records of an E class after that one

Similary searching for HMS F will bring up 4 F class DDs that can be reclassed

HMS G will yield 5 replacements and so on

Always remember to cross check with the roster cfg for the actual ship names of that class as many destroyers names may begin with letters but not of that class ie Eskimo (tribal not E class ) Ghurka ( Tribal not G class )

Hello,

bringing the destroyer into the game is kind of a nightmare. As BBW stated, the scripted layer can be edited but most of the destroyers appear within convoys or battlegroups. It requires editing of all the respectives entries.

An alternative could be to replace NDD_C&D and NDE_River by some of the new models.

@sailor steve:
Right, the maple leaf flag was introduced later and RCN ships were flying the White Ensign during the war. However, towards the end of the war, RCN ships sported a maple leaf painted on the sides of the (aft) funnel, usually in greyish blue. I made the River Class ships having the funnel mark from the start.

Cheers
