Yeah, this is confusing me a great deal.
So I decided to run some tests, I picked a couple of random servers with differing pings and logged on to them. All of them started with you in your little yellow ship, and in all of them the ship was perfectly controllable. In the 21 ping server it was all nice and smooth, even when I smashed into a rock, in the 100+ ping server it was choppy but still controllable and in the 60 ping server it was also controllable, and there were a few other ships around. So, what confuses me is this. Why when I log into Arcs server (which has a ping of about 60 according to the Steam server browser) can I not control any ships. Literally the ship will spin around without any input and be like a bucking bronco in space. Completely uncontrollable. Very frustrating... EDIT: I should note that I connected to these servers through the in-game browser...I'm going to run another test in a minute and connect to a couple through the Steam browser, see if that makes a difference. No, no difference made. Connected to a 15, 60 and 100 ping server, all ships fully controllable. Last edited by Oberon; 06-09-14 at 08:33 AM. |

Are you guys aware of the landing pad bug? If anyone other than the host locks it, it causes server desync.

That's a new one. So basically, no one should mag-lock the landing gears?

Yes, if the bug is still there.
Found this thread discussing it: http://forums.keenswh.com/post/multi...-gears-6829138 It is possible that the bug has been fixed with the latest patch. |

Hmmm, I must admit that I've been unlocking the ship from the pad before lifting off which means that it could be that causing the problems.
Only one way to find out! |

Nope, I hopped into one of the floating ships and started moving everywhere, and now it's even doing it whilst I'm not in a ship. So I'm at a loss. |

Aye, it's a shame because there's so much potential there, itching to get some ships built. But I can wait.

Well, there's good and bad news. I managed to (slowly) connect and stay on for a while, an hour or two at least, enough time to do some mining. The obscene control spasms also appear to have gone.
The down side is that as time went on I got more and more input lag, which is to say that I would press T to enter the cockpit of Dave 2 and nothing would happen for ten to twenty seconds. Nothing too major but in the end it got to the point where I was waiting for over five minutes to get into the cockpit and nothing was happening, so I left, and reconnecting has proven, challenging, as in it's taking over fifteen minutes to download a 3mb file. Still, it's a step in the right direction. Unfortunately I was unable to turn the space station off before I left, so someone might want to just do that in passing, although I think there's plenty of fuel in there to keep it going for a while. |
