Default DW Editor Questions

Okay, I am switching over from 688i, but I am not that developed in what has been expressed in other threads. So, a question.

I want to create a simple sub to sub conflict to practice with the Editor towards a points resolution.

The problem I get is that after I sink the enemy sub, I go to Exit Mission and there the points are not assigned and the mission says "incomplete". Both subs are assigned to "Kill" the other.

Are triggers involved? Am I just not clicking on certain boxes?

What do I need to look for?

I am not sure how or what to show. Probably something I need to learn.

I have two groups, one is U.S. and one is RU. Each has a sub starting in a random box. within 15 miles of center. Both are set to war on the other.

I assume I need a trigger to reflect someone dying. Do I need a trigger to close mission. I noticed in the Trigger windows that there was a "Return to Base", so maybe that suffices.

Anyway, who gets the trigger, or do both? When I just ran the mission, I (U.S.) killed the Russian Akula. I waited ten minutes in game and closed the mission. It said the Akula was killed, but no points and the mission was listed as "incomplete".

In the manual, I am just not getting clarity of who gets the trigger and how to fill out the windows.

Thanks for responding. Once I get one mission built, I will know more on how to expand.

Missions in DW are just text files.
Just open that scenario with notepad, copy/paste as [spoiler]
or place link to hosting services.

I thought you used trigger from your description but your mission had only 2 submarines (and nothing more)

You can open in editor missions others designers for learning purposes.

It worked. I did not change anything. I did notice getting other contacts, just 1 or two. I will have to look up the basic load for the RU Subs. A little unnerving. At least figure out what is going on there.

Next I will add an IL-May to show up after an hour. Maybe the RU sub called for help. I will look up its capability, too.

I guess I did mention the trigger because I played with it to no noticeable effect. Maybe a question down the road.

The points don't do anything like that. I believe the points are mainly (if not completely) intended for multiplayer scoring. For example, if both sides fulfill their main objectives, who got the most points (perhaps from non-critical objectives)? They're the winner.
