Liverpool and City start their seasons with heavy wins.

Oh and Sunderland are one down at half time

Match week one to City, two goals to the good now. Not likely to come down to differential, but you never know. The real worry is Allison, but there's no better time to get hurt, with the light schedule for the first month. Haven't see his prognosis, but hoping for a speedy recovery.

So Jimbuna, you must be happy that Ashley decided to open the strings with Rafa having bolted eh? Joelinton? Haven't seen him to be honest, but for that sort of price he had better hit the ground running.

Rafa had previously warned the fat controller that Linton wasn't worth £40 million so wasn't interested in him.

The question I'm pondering is who is the person or persons who identified £60 million of targets for this season because it certainly wasn't Rafa or Bruce (the second worst managerial record in Premiership history).

Hopefully they will all come good and we'll have a good season.

Poor performance even though Arsenal looked a little lacklustre, going down to the only goal of the game.

Improvement is needed and fast.

Gunners were there for the taking I'd reckon. I think this year the relegation line will be higher than usual, 38 points may not be safe. We will see.

United looked more free and flowing than in a long time. I think the scoreline flattered them a little, and Lampard's team selection for me was questionable.

Brighton got off to a flier eh? Burnley too.

Glad football is back.

Only one game played in the league and it's already looking like a two horse race

hmm which 2 ? hope its not a repeat of last season I reckon were going to have a more open chasing pack, at least I hope so. good win for MU very pleased about that bit of consistency and just maybe 1 of the contenders Rashford seems to come of age matured nicely

MUFC 4 Chelsea 0

I was thinking the same two as last season with possibly Spurs and Man U leading the chasing pack.

Very poor result at Norwich yesterday and there are many already calling for the removal of Steve Bruce.

Yes, that's one that Newcastle would have looked to for three points. Wasn't able to catch the match and judge the performance, but even if they played well enough to win, a loss to Norwich is a very poor result indeed.

Sorry to say but I picked Newcastle to go down, along with Sheffield and Norwich. Plenty of time left, but these games against the bottom clubs are must-wins.

How did Toon look against Norwich? Is sacking Bruce justified at this point? I mean, has he got his selection and tactics wrong already?

Atrocious, yes yes and yes.

Totally out of his depth.

Toon fans deserve better.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly selected Marcus Rashford as Manchester United's permanent penalty taker.

The decision comes after Paul Pogba missed from the spot in Monday night's 1-1 draw with Wolves .

The French midfielder grabbed the penalty after being felled at Molineux but saw his spotkick saved by Rui Patricio.

Yes, and Rashford's never missed.

For me it goes to show that United lack leadership from top down. PSG had the same sort of convoluted penalty arrangement in the recent past too.

A manager must set the taker and that's it. Anything else is silly. Title-winning teams don't have penalty by committee. You pick a taker, and if he's on the pitch he takes it. Done.

Allowing the players to debate it on the pitch is madness and shows weakness in the manager for me.
