Default I've Broken SHIII

Sending out the old SSS to all Kaluens...

It would seem that I've very much damaged the files of SH3 somehow, I think as a result of my mod soup. Attempting a reset of JSGME has failed insofar, and at this point, I believe, to my knowledge, that the only course of action left to me is to reinstall SH3 and attached mods.

However, I first want to run it by the long-time veterans, as perhaps I missed something.

Currently, my reasoning for the possibility that the game has broken is, namely, the repair times. A better way to put it would be that I can't repair. Even in shallow water, I've been unable to stop what would normally be minor flooding as I watch the timer for flooding recovery on the crew management screen produce triple-digit numerals in the seconds, and those numbers go up no matter what I do (including surfacing).

While I appreciate the heighted realism of getting sunk by every single aircraft attack in 1944, it does get a little annoying. If there is something simple, such as manually fixing the code in the files or other such way, perhaps one of our crew will know it?

Thanks in advance!

SHO Re: I've Broken SHIII

As I know of it.. SH3, as well as the follow ups to it.. are hard wired aka hard coded, that after so much damage is accrued, that the crew can do nothing to repair that damages... as I understand it.

It may be that you can see if you can make it back to base & end patrol. This should allow for the docks to affect repairs & make your sub sea worthy yet again & then be able to put to sea once more... hopefully.

Or it could be that you are unable to reach home port to do so... thereby having to abandon ship or lose the ship completely.. in this case, if you don't have an abandon ship mod added in... then inevitably, the end result would be the loss of the career then.

I do know that there was an addition to h.sie that allowed for it to be set to abandon ship. Can't recall what the process was, right off.. but do remember that stiebler & rubini... 2 subsimmer's... worked on doing a mod just for that purpose.

Again... from what I know of, stiebler did finish theirs... as for rubini's... no idea if they ever did finalize their mod idea.

Info on stiebler's mod, can be found here:

Info on rubini's, can be found here:

Hope this info helps...

I thought that may have been the issue, but in testing various types of damage over various boats, but the results are the same; whether a couple of loose pipes from a stray depth charge or a gaping hole from a corvettes little pop gun, I cannot seem to repair any damage the boat takes.

While I must say it has made it quite the experience, learning how to maneuver perfectly and avoid detection, I know I'll eventually make a mistake, and making one such as diving when I should ascend to avoid a stuck of depth charges should not, I feel, immediately result in my boat sinking from the plumbing back aft being knocked out of joint.

I'll look into the mods and see if they might help, though. At this point, it's worth a shot.

One major problem with Stiebler's surrender patch is that it requires the radio to be operable and having the radio destroyed is not uncommon in serious damage situations.

If the radio is destroyed, the surrender option can't work.

However, SH3 Commander also has a surrender function that requires nothing else to work other than installing the program.
