Default Getting locked out of Steam SH5 recently? FIX: Uconnect settings

Tried to start the game, it says "Service is Unavailable". Anyone else?

Onkel Neal, I have not encountered that yet, but my Win7 install has now destroyed my TWoS activation, taking me back to the Stock game. On Win7, Steam and UConnect seem to be arguing about which platform has ultimate control of the game (purchased through Steam) - but it does eventually run. On Win10, I have no such problem, other than (again), Steam rolled me back to the Stock game from TWoS - but the game runs. Both platforms seem to have done the rollback after one of the last Steam updates, but I am not certain, since I have been avoiding the Steam versions of the game, and walked away while the machines were "updating" Steam. I had Win11 on the laptop, and was experimenting with the Steam SH5 and TWoS, but I could never get SH5 to start, though as I say, I did not even get to an error message it, just the initial Start box as Steam was handing off to UConnect, but nothing ever populated, and it just sat there. After trouble with several other apps on the machine, and extremely sluggish response, I rolled back to Win10. See Post 14101 [REL]The Wolves of Steel - SH5 Megamod and down the page (even the page before if you get curious) if you are using Win11.

Thanks, Rick, I'll have a look. I'm using Win 10. I may have to go dig out my old SH5 DVD and try that, I guess.

Yes, I had the same problem. Just came back to SH5 after some years. Did fresh Steam install, fresh TWOS 2.2.25 install, couldn't get past uconnect.

I had to manually download and install and run uconnect.

I disabled the "update game" option in uconnect and set it to offline mode as per the TWOS instructions.
