Rel Rel Rel Rel

Hello
This mod is for SH3 1.4 "vanilla".
This mod is long overdue, asked for long time ago.
now you can have Heavy flakgun with IID2.
All should work but you can not upgrade Heavy flak,
was not able to make it work.Best maybe not to upgrade guns,
Also if you manually use guns they may not work with AI against aircraft!
Start 1941 Brest to get IID2F.
No permission needed use as you like.

This is a really neat boat, .....and I want it!

....But because I am a total Noob on the subject of serious modifications, ....I need to ask a couple questions that probably fall into the "Stupid" catagory.

1) The downloaded file is named "SH3_IID2FlakShip.7z": .....How do I implement that file?

2) The author says that this was developed for "Vanilla" V1.4: .....Do I really have to give up GWX to get this boat??

SH3_IID2FlakShip

Hello
1: first unzip it with 7-zip. open it and if you see another folder "SH3_IID2FlakShip." move it to desktop.
open it and if now you can see Data folder and readme all is ok.
then you need "jsgme" move it to SH3 main folder and run it once, it will make
MODS folder, ok. now move SH3_IID2FlakShip folder from desktop to mods
folder. and now you can enable SH3_IID2FlakShip mod with jsgme.
Start new game 1941 brest and you will get SH3_IID2FlakShip.
If you order watch officer to man aa guns, and you see only one gun manned.
reason is: there was only one crew member in submarine "rest" area, but
as watch officer sent watch crew bellow decks to reast area, you can order
a second man aa guns, and now all guns should be manned, or you can
"manually" transfer crew from other "on duty" areas
2: Sorry i do not have gwx . But maybe later, it is a long download.

Thanks for the help!!

I got the boat loaded, and I have embarked on a career! (After first shooting up the dockyard,......Just to try out my new guns!:rotfl: )

I am running under GWX, and all major items seem to be working!

The only problem I had was when I attempted to load my Conning Tower emblem under the "Specials" option, none of the emblems appeared to be available. (A bad filepath, perhaps??)

......Anyway, this setup is brilliant! ....I'm looking forward to shooting up a lot of trawlers and small merchants with that 37mm!!!

Thanks for a great mod!!!! .......I owe you MANY beers!!

klcarroll

BTW: ......I'm really curious: .......Why did you decide to start the mod in 1941 instead of earlier????

i think cause the best hunting for the type II/D is in 1941 when the 1st moves to Brest.

So far no problems with the type II in GWX 2.1?:hmm:

I have to say again that this is a GREAT mod! .......I haven't had so much fun with the game since I first bought it!

The 37mm, with it's stabilized mount is the IDEAL medicine for all those trawlers, tugs, and small merchants that previously weren't worth a torpedo.

Captain Von Keldink, ....my hat is off to you!

I have noticed other threads asking about additional deck guns, and similar changes. ...........One of these days, when you have some spare time, could you describe in a step-by-step, file-by-file way how you accomplished your magic??

The problem most of us "Modding Noobs" face is that we don't even know WHICH files need to be altered to produce a "clean" modification.

Mods like yours breath new life into The Game, and increase it's life expectancy by years! ........I would very much like to see this trend continue.

KLCarrol!

Any more info on how this mod works with GWX 2.1? Also does this ship just replace the type II/D? if I have a type II/D career already going will it just add the flak gun to my current boat?:hmm:

Thanks!

I'm sorry! .......I should have been clearer in my earlier post.

I am still running an older version of GWX: ........But I have had NO problems.

My original SH3 DVD is in "shaky" shape, and I hesitate to trust it for a complete reload. I am looking on eBay for a "new" copy, and when I get that, I will step up to GWX2.1.

Perhaps one of the GWX team can comment on the likelihood of V2.1 compatibility.

It appears that Von Keldunk's Flak ship replaces the stock TypeIID; .....But there may be ways around that I am unaware of. (...As I have mentioned before, I am a real "Noob" in the world of modding.)

I am having one hell of a lot of fun with this mod! .....That 37mm is a great asset for dealing with smaller targets!

I have noted that 1941 is the only year in which the author has filled out the "yearly specs" in the BASIC.CFG file; .....But it is a simple matter to make the rest of the following years match. (...Even I have picked up that much! )

......And Von Keldunk did say that this is a "Work In Progress".
