When you walk , ride or drive through traffic with friends and exclaim that you're "picking up something on passive or active sonar" when a weird situation develops.

When you see a beautiful lady and tell your accompanying friends that you'd like to "actively ping her"...

Kind regards,

Eichenlaub

  • when you look at the clock at work and start doing a time zone coversion because you are currently patrolling the east coast of Amerika!
  • when you start doing TDC calculations on the guy who just cut infront of you in traffic
  • when all the lights in your house have been set up with a switch to "rig for red"
  • When you try to go to sleep you can still hear the pinging.
  • and it gets more frequent and closer with every ping!
  • when your DVD copy of Das Boot starts to wear out

I've recently taken to leaving my pc on and going to bed mid-patrol. I'll switch to the captains bed, conveniently aiming the camera at my copy of 'die sirens' (GW mod), then hit the hay.
Couple of days okay I actually woke up when my Watch Officer said "Ship Spotted!"

I havent shaved or seen sunlight in weeks either. Is that bad ?

I've jumped in my chair when I heard a loud noise on the TV, or outside, thinking I was being attacked when my mind is wandering during periods of inactivity in the game. :rotfl:

My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves all together.

  • When you answer your phone, you promptly go "Ja, Admiral Dönitz?".
  • When your car carries an u-boat Flotilla emblem and you find yourself constantly in court over the 22mm mounted on its back.
  • When you're on the highway and think "oh damn, so much traffic, they'll spot me for sure!" (which might be a bad thing seeing your car carries a 1st Flotilla emblem and twin-barreled 22mm...).
  • When you don't dare swim in the fjord - there might be u-boats!
  • When you hear a vacuum cleaner and jump a metre in the air, thinking "TORPEDO!".
  • When you go sailing and find yourself having submerged your sail-boat.

When you're setting up a night attack on the UZO and the white glare from the notepad and chronometer is too much. You head downstairs and get the red laserview glasses that came with the jig saw and put them on to improve your night vision.

When you watch the various tour boats and sailboats on the lake (Lake Geneva in my case) and try figuring each ones range and AOB.

Nothing wrong with that. I do it with semi-trucks and buses on the highway.
