Diving on U-701

This may be old news; NOAA has now opened up diving SCBA Sancuaries off the coast of Hatteras, N.C. For a while they were off limits but you now can plan to dive at the last resting place for U-701. The sub was sunk by an arial depth charge July,1942. On her thrid patrol.The subs Captain and 18 men escaped using their portable breathing apperatus. If there are any divers on line contact: www.sanctuaries.noaa.gov/missions/battleofatlantic2. The sub is in 300 ft of water laying on her portside.
