Recuperating from a very pleasant 40th anniversary BBQ prepared and cooked by my daughter: filet mignon, corn-on-the-cob, homemade potato salad,and homemade cheesecake washed down with a local sauvignon blanc vino! All I had to do was light the grill! We couldn't do the usual steakhouse scene as the great lockdown is reinstituted in Napa due to a resurgence of covid (8 dead!! for small town

) and my wife does not leave the house!

Second day of weeklong heat wave; yesterday was 108F!!!. So no sailing for two old guys.

(the 'new normal' sucks). Lets hope the AC holds up as PG&E keeps up with demand. We had a massive power failure a night ago already due to erroneous preventive tree-trimming to prevent fires from old power lines. My uncle-in-law passed away last night. He contracted Covid in his care facility and no one could visit him. He was a splendid teacher, basketball coach, gardiner and had flown anti-Uboat Liberators in WWII. Age 97. He had encouraged his niece to move to California in 1978 to go to law school....I just had my 40th wedding anniversary with that lady!

He was an atheist so no services are planned.....

I saw it...and it did indeed cheer me up. Most of my time is spent just lying here being bored. After five weeks they finally brought the x-ray machine back, and it looks like they might have to operate after all. my skull fracture is healing nicely if somewhat slowly. A "speech" therapist plays logic games with me every other day, and a physical therapist takes me walking.

Over all it's not too bad, if you don't mind lying around with a computer as your only entertainment.

We all know that Neal is a private person, which is certainly okay with me ... I am too due to strange people trying to hack my email's on microsoft (from all over the world) and this is the only place that I use that particular email, but back to Neal

I've been doing a lot of baseball lately.

My coach whistles everytime I hit the ball. I can't tell if its because it goes pretty far or how fast it zings past everyones heads.
My fielding is ok. I've been playing a lot of Center Field.

Baseball is the best.

Got cats fed and coffee made, just in time for second power failure in two days. Back on Samsung tablet with EDDO ellipsis jetpack as WIFI is out. Smoke and overcast are intermingled and smells very smokey. No word on emergency radio on how long PG &E will take. 2300 customers out; so it's smaller than two days ago.

Light winds today so that will improve firefighting control issues in them-thar hills. Edit: TA DAA! The power just came back on as I post...now to reset all the appliance clocks...again.
