A Conservative MP has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of rape.

The Sunday Times reported that the allegations against the former minister were made by an ex-parliamentary employee.

The Met Police said the allegations relate to four separate incidents alleged to have taken place between July 2019 and January 2020.

The Conservative Party said it takes such allegations "extremely seriously".

Probably from a preliminary investigation that is going on and that the prosecutor does not have sufficient evidence, moreover, he has been released on bail, which can be interpreted as a lower suspicion, then there are of course pressures in higher places not to disclose anything that could jeopardize the party's reputation ... this is only a spontaneous reaction from me I am not familiar with the legal order in the country and procedure, only things which is official.
