Very lucky the guy wasn't carrying a knife.

Four months for man who attacked French president.
A medieval combat enthusiast has been given four months in jail after he admitted slapping French President Emmanuel Macron. Damien Tarel told the court it was an act of impulse, but the prosecutor said it was a "deliberate act of violence". The court heard that Tarel subscribed to right-wing or far-right politics and was close to the yellow-vest movement. President Macron said the attack should not be trivialised but had to be kept in proportion. He had just left a hotel school in the south-eastern town of Tain-l'Hermitage when he ran towards a crowd waiting behind a metal barrier. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-57424520

That was over 75 years ago vienna ... you were just a little boy
I'm not sure we should make fun of a country that has an abundance of nuclear weapons

They didn't use their weapons much in the 1940's, what makes you think that they'd use them now?.

I just don't know what to make of this.
One side of me says: "Damn. You just slapped the President of France. You're in for it." The other side of me says: "Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!" Have I told you how much I loathe politicians?

They had a tank theoretician who told them how to use this weapon, but did not listen. Tbey fought inefficiently that way while Germans made better use of visir even inferior tanks. And so they lost. They also lost indochine and algeria, but not without setting up a brutal fight. Others coming after them were stupid enough not to learn from their indochine experiencey. The french secret service is the most relentless and secondbest secret service in europe, after the british. Their military actions in africa again were against the odds a d realism, but again: they fought on the ground. The resistance in ww2 was feared by the germans. They may be many things, but one thing they are not: cowards.

Troops need the politicians not to be cowards as well old boy and Macron and his politicians do not come across as war leaders and never will do, they've had too much of the finer things in life to let daily death lists enter the fray.
