SHO Brand new member here - hello!

Hi all,

I've just joined Subsim, having popped in as a stowaway a few times over the years.

I guess my first adventure with Submarine computer games was "U-Boat Hunt" on my 48k ZX Spectrum, back in the mid-80's. Seems like a long time ago now

Since then I've always enjoyed the idea and setting, but i got really heavily into Flightsims around 2003 and all my attentions went that way for ten years or so. Then the demands of family life and the death of my gaming PC meant I couldn't spend any time on simulation at all for a while...

I've just returned to the fold now because I bought a board game with accompanying app - "U-Boot: The Board Game" which was nicely designed, but I couldn't get the experience I was looking for from it, while playing solo. By chance, I saw a video on Youtube about SH3, and I was instantly hooked on the idea. Luckily, my wife has just got a new iPad and no longer uses her 2008 Windows 7 laptop, so I've commandeered that and loaded the DVD version of SH3, which I found in a charity shop last year for £1.

Long intro I know (I hope you're not all asleep now?) but I'm glad to be here and may have some newbie questions once i've had a good scan of the FAQ threads...

Thanks for the welcome guys

And no problem for the round of beers - I have a slab of cold 'virtual' beers right next to me. How shall I deliver them to you?

Cheers
