Been almost 2 years... has the game changed much?

Got back into CWs in the past few days. I downloaded the 2004 mod and put the Seawolf as my go to submarine.


Seems that either its been quite awhile and I forgot how to play, or the game dynamics has changed.


Recent example;


(Granted, this is my 3rd go through already, and I have died on all the other ones)


I am shadowing a task force approximately 15k out from of their closet ship, putzing along at 10 knots at 1300 feet under a strong thermal layer.


Helicopter drops 3 torpedoes on top of me... I sink.


Another time I was cruising at 5 knots around 1100 feet, and I am not sure if it was an aircraft or depth charge launcher, but they were raining down on me with pinpoint accuracy.


I don't recall having this much difficulty. I haven't been able to make it past the first mission on the 3 campaigns yet.


My difficulty setting is on casual. Nothing crazy.
