Default Why won’t my TDC leave me alone?

I don’t want the gyro to change when I point my scope somewhere. I don’t want it shooting torpedoes where it thinks I want them. I want them to shoot straight down the bow. That’s it.

How the hell can I actually get that to happen while I look around with the periscope? I think we’re all more than capable of conducting no TDC attacks from 30/45/60/90 AOBs, but only if the damn thing doesn’t insist on trying to correct the shot...

That is an issue. When the TDC is locked in position you’re going to move the Gyro angle around.

So you need to lock it, move the angle to zero, then unlock the scope from the TDC.

Now when you fire the torp will go straight but you will need to calculate speed and bearing of your target... basically sine cosine calculations.

Good luck!

Yeah, I am generally anti-TDC. So many ways to screw up a TDC shot, while down the bow is about 5 seconds of math and doesn't miss. So having my optics tied to the shot is extremely obnoxious. It takes what should be a "look ma, no hands" easy method, literally:

1. Get target course and speed. You had to do this anyhow.

2. Use compass to set yourself 30/45/60/90 opposed.

3. Multiply speed by 1.42. This is your 90 degree firing angle for a 40 kt torpedo if you're firing down your bow. (Ok, it won't work for anything over 16 knots, but what are you shooting steaming at more than 16 knots? That's time to reference a firing table)

And the gyro makes into into the hellacious click-ology of errors and sequenced steps that are TDC attacks.

So there's literally no way to simply tell the crew "fire ay 0 degrees when I say so, that's it"?

Ah. I see. The “manual input on off” button can go for a zero reset. Very useful

I myslef have had issues at first with this one. Especially since if you choose TDC off, the crew likes to still adjust for speed and such. I actually began hateing the annoying bastard that stick his prankster face into my periscope... Nevermind how he hogs the mounted bino up top front and center, like he owns the boat or something. I even found myself aiming the AA gun to the back of his head as soon as the new conning tower got mounted. But now I simply ignore everything, leave the TDC on, skip pretty much everything, toss my thumb up and aim with one eye shut. and fire at 0/360 or 180. Or slightly kick the torp left of right if needed. But I never have or will play anything other than 100% realistic. Would be nice to figure out how use that range finding gizmo tho.

My WO and gunner do all the work.

Lot less hassle though of course less immersive and I still miss at times.
